APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS Traditional BSN Program All applicants must submit a new completed application for each application cycle. The School of Nursing DOES NOT keep old applications from previous cycles. All applications must be postmarked by the application deadline. Late or incomplete applications will NOT be considered. Submit a Completed School of Nursing Application (pages 9-11): Application for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Traditional BSN Program (Application can be submitted prior to taking the Kaplan Admissions Exam but exam needs to be completed by deadline) Be sure to include: 1. Unofficial Transcripts from each college or university attended. (NAU transcripts do not need to be submitted with your application) 2. Course descriptions for prerequisites taken outside the state of Arizona.. If you are among those selected for more than one campus, you will be offered admission to your highest preferred campus. Once you are admitted to a specific campus there will be NO transferring between campuses. DO NOT apply for a campus that you are not willing to relocate. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS & CRITERIA F SELECTION Traditional BSN Program 1. A minimum grade point average of.0 (on a 4.0 scale) in prerequisite courses. Please note, the minimum GPA of.0 does not guarantee admission to the program. Most successful applicants have a GPA well above.0. 2. Proctored KAPLAN Admissions Exam results with a minimum overall score of 70 and 65 on Science. Please note, the minimum scores of 70 Overall and 65 Science does not guarantee admission to the program. The exam results will be used as part of the process of screening and ranking applicants. INSTRUCTIONS F KAPLAN ADMISSION EXAM Traditional BSN Program NOTE: The KAPLAN Admissions Exam score is used for screening and ranking of applicants. KAPLAN EXAM NEEDS TO BE COMPLETED BY APPLICATION DEADLINE Kaplan Exam Students may take the exam only once per application cycle. Kaplan results can be used from previous cycles, however, applicant must provide date Kaplan was taken, location Kaplan was taken and a printed copy of the results. The test consists of 91 questions for a total of 165 minutes. The breakdown is as follows: Reading 22 questions; 45 minutes Math 28 questions; 45 minutes Writing 21 questions; 45 minutes Science 20 questions; 0 minutes It is important to schedule the exam in advance, and email your scheduled exam information to the School of Nursing at least 5-7 business days before the exam to ensure a Kaplan username and password is generated in time for your scheduled exam date. A study guide can be purchased online or at most places books are sold. For study guide information, please search online for KAPLAN Nursing Entrance Exam Study Guide. For Students in the Flagstaff Area: 1. Contact the NAU Testing Center (http://testing.nau.edu/homepage/ or 928-52-258) to schedule the Kaplan Admissions exam. Testing sessions are by appointment only. There is a $50.00 proctor fee that is due at the time of scheduling. 2. Send an email to nursing.advising@nau.eduwith ADMISSION EXAM in the SUBJECT line. Please indicate your registered NAME (no nicknames), the EXAM DATE, ADMISSIONS TERM applying for, and that you are taking the exam at the NAU TESTING CENTER or you may send your testing center scheduled receipt. Please send this 5-7 business days before your exam date.. You will receive a confirmation email from nursing.advising@nau.edu; print and keep a copy of this confirmation to take with you to the testing center. You will be required to bring two forms of ID that match your registered name, including at least one photo ID in order to take the exam. For Students in the Tucson Area: 1. Call 520-206-485 to schedule your exam. You must reserve a seat prior to the test date as there is limited space available. There is a proctoring fee of $25 due on the test date. Applicants can pay with check, money order or Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover. Make checks/money orders payable to Pima Community College. You will receive a confirmation email from nursing.advising@nau.edu; print and keep a copy of this confirmation to take with you to the Arizona Western College Testing Center. There is a $0 proctor fee due at the time of the exam. NOTE: The proctor WILL NOT administer the exam unless they have received an email from the School of Nursing confirming your test date. You will be required to bring two forms of ID that match your registered name, including at least one photo ID in order to take the exam. For Students not in the Flagstaff, Tucson or Yuma Area: 1. Call a testing center in your local area, find out if they have proctoring services and is willing to proctor the exam. Most community colleges and universities have a testing center but do not list that they have proctoring services. You will need to contact them to find out if they have this service. Be sure to get a valid email address and contact information for the testing center. 2. Schedule an exam date. Make sure that the testing center has internet access.. Send an email to nursing.advising@nau.edu with ADMISSION EXAM in the SUBJECT line. Please indicate your registered NAME (no nicknames), EXAM DATE, ADMISSIONS TERM applying for, and the TESTING CENTER NAME along with the TESTING CENTER EMAIL so that your exam information can be sent to them.
