April 2017 Page 3 Kiwanis Club of Lincoln Foothills Membership Growth Don t forget to bring in new potential members. As of April 10 th, we have added four new members for Fiscal Year 2016-2017. This year there is a challenge by Lt. Governor Laird Smith to obtain the new members. Let s get creative and get more members. See the Membership Challenge Chart below. Let s challenge ourselves to bring in more worker bees. Let s get the word out about Kiwanis and all the wonderful things that we do for our community. Kathy Shaddox, our member chair will discuss at the next meeting ways to get new members and what tactics are being used to recruit Millennials. April 2017 Page 5 2017 Valentines Dinner & Dance New Orleans Dinner Donation Contributed by Mike and Marty Sue Hart The winners of the Valentines Dinner Dance New Orleans Dinner Auction for Four donated and hosted by Kiwanians Michael and Marty Sue Hart was prepared by Chef Michael and served by Maid Marty Sue. The weather was lovely and the evening started with wine in their backyard, accompanied with soft music, followed by dinner in the dining room. The Four-Course Dinner included Caesar Salad, Escargot served with Sourdough Bâtard, Etouffee with Rice and Broccoli, and completed with Lemon Soufflé. The hosts joined the foursome at the end of the evening, enjoying getting to know each other, and were graciously thanked by winner John Griffin, who said "You never know what you're going to get when you bid on these events, but this evening was wonderful! The food, the table decorations, everything was great!". Mike and Marty Sue thanked the foursome for bidding on their donated dinner and explained that all of the winning bid monies will be donated by the Kiwanis Club of Lincoln Foothills to some of the local elementary schools in Lincoln. Coppin Elementary School K-Kids Acts of Kindness K-Kids are doing Acts of Kindness around school involving all the students at the school. They made Signs and Flyers for the weeks of April 3-14.

April 2017 Page 7 Carlin C. Coppin Elementary School K-Kids Make Mice for SPCA Even our own John Moran can make Mice!... Our K-Kids were busy this month. They made mice for the Kittens at the SPCA. Carlin C. Coppin Elementary School K-Kids Enter Kiwanis International Song Contest Both of our K-Kids Clubs at Carlin C. Coppin Elementary are working on songs to submit by May 1st. The first place winner wins a free $100 Kiwanis Market Place shopping spree at KiwanisDollarsDays.com. We are hoping we can get our two groups to perform at one of our May meetings. The Songs Themes are Club Engagement, Leadership or Service Rules.

Coppin Elementary School K-Kids Teacher & Staff Appreciation Day On April 21st, K-Kids and Kiwanis Club of Lincoln Foothills provided a Breakfast for Coppin Elementary Teachers and Staff. April 2017 Page 10 CNH District Collecting Instant Oatmeal Packets for Needy Children On April 29, 2017 our Cal-Nev-Ha Governor Pete Edwards will visit Region 16 (Divisions 7, 27, 44) at the Courtyard Marriott Midtown. The First Lady, Jeannette Edwards is asking members to bring Instant Oatmeal Packages to provide a nourishing breakfast for children in our Division who come to school without breakfast. Kiwanis clubs are to bring their Oatmeal Packages to the luncheon. See Page 8 for more information. Kiwanis Family House Big Day of Giving Kiwanis Family House is in need of operating funds. At the DCM meeting, we talked about giving what each club could afford on May 4 th. From 12:00 Noon to 3:00 PM at the Beach Hut Deli, 6601 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento, CA. Kiwanians Can Come And: Enjoy a Signature Sandwich And Live Music. Make Your Big Day Donation and Visit With Your Fellow Kiwanis Family House Supporters. April 2017 Page 11 CNH Division 44 Council Meetings (DCMs) DCMs are held on the second Monday of the month at the Free Methodist Church, 8790 Oak Avenue, Orangevale CA, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Dinner is served at 5:30 pm and the meeting starts at about 6:00 pm. Cost is $10.00 for Dinner, or $5.00 for Dessert Only. The Division Council Meetings or DCMs as members commonly refer to it, are meetings where members from all fifteen clubs in Division 44 get together to share successes, plans, concerns and have fun. All members are welcome as are guests. We are frequently joined by representatives from other Divisions, our Key Club & Circle K Club Division Leadership. The next DCM Meeting is on May 8, 2017 and is Hosted by The Kiwanis Club of Lincoln Foothills. Wednesday, May 17, 2017: Prayer Breakfast / Free Methodist Church, Orangevale, CA, 7:00AM-8:30AM. March Community Service Hours In March, 18 Members performed 153 Community Service Hours, directly serving the Community of Lincoln. Community Service during the year includes: BUGs, K-Kids, Healthy Snacks, Carlin C. Coppin Elementary School, Sheridan Elementary School, First Street Elementary School, Creekside Oaks Elementary School, Lincoln Police Activities League, Lincoln Area Chamber of Commerce, Fundraising Events: Valentines Dinner & Dance, Golf Tournament & Fireworks Sales. Thanks to all who contributed many hours of their time working in the Lincoln Community. March Meeting Attendance Attendance for the March 3rd Meeting was 16 Members. Attendance for the March 17th Meeting was 16 Members, 7 Members from Carmichael, 6 Members from Rancho Cordova, 4 Members from Sacramento Suburban, 2 Speakers from William Jessup University and 2 Major Golf Tournament Sponsors..
