THE 7 TH ANNUAL GEORGIA LEGAL FOOD FRENZY The Office of the Attorney General, the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia, and the Georgia Food Bank Association have joined forces to create a friendly food and fund drive competition among Georgia law firms, law schools, legal organizations, and corporate, in-house counsel to support the Georgia Food Bank Association and the food banks in Georgia that serve all 159 counties across the state. In its first six years, this competition has raised the equivalent of 6.5 million meals worth of food and funds. Georgia s Food Banks work through a network of over 2,000 partner agencies and faith-based organizations to distribute 130 million pounds of food annually to Georgians who need it the most. The Legal Food Frenzy comes at a critical time for the Food Banks. Over 60% of Georgia s public school children are eligible for free and reduced lunch. The Legal Food Frenzy provides a much needed supply of food and funds to Georgia s regional Food Banks to help the families of those kids during summer months. The 2018 goal is to raise $360,000 across the state. 2

LEGAL FOOD FRENZY RULES & GUIDLINES REGISTRATION Firms and Legal Organizations can sign-up to compete at http://galegalfoodfrenzy.org/sign-up If you sign up by April 1 st you get 100 bonus points! The Firm Champion listed should be the designated contact person at your firm/organization. They will receive all competition communications and should share with colleagues. When you sign up, include the total number of employees (attorneys and staff) in your firm or legal organization. If you are corporate, in-house legal counsel, you should only count the number of employees in the legal department, not the entire company. Firms and Legal Organizations with multiple office locations in Georgia should sign up individually, so that we can connect them with the correct Food Bank. They should only list the number of employees in their specific office. At the end of the competition, the totals from all of the offices will be aggregated and the firm will compete as a single entity for the awards. If you need to change your registration, contact LFFinfo@georgiafoodbankassociation.org SCORING $1 = 4 points. 1 pound of food = 1 point. The Attorney General s Cup Winner is the firm or legal organization with the most points per employee and the Bar President s Award goes to the team with the most overall points! See Page 10 for all awards and categories. There are multiple BONUS POINT opportunities: VOLUNTEER BONUS: Firms and Legal Organizations that volunteer at their regional Food Bank between Feb 1 and April 27 will receive 100 bonus points added to their total score. This is a flat 100 bonus points, so the number of people or hours does not matter. EARLY BIRD BONUS: Register by April 1st for 100 Bonus Points! SOCIAL MEDIA BONUS: Post about the competition on any of your firm/org s social media accounting using the hashtag #GaLFF18 and tagging the Georgia Food Bank Association between March 1 April 27 for a one-time Bonus of 100 Points! REFERRAL BONUS: You will receive 100 bonus points for every firm/org you recruit to the competition who did not compete in the 2017 Legal Food Frenzy. They must actually raise food or funds, not just register to count. They need to indicate on their end of the campaign form that your firm recruited them. END OF CAMPAIGN FORM BONUS: Fill this out on April 27 for 100 Bonus Points. 3

DELIVERY BONUS: Deliver your donations the week following the competition (April 30 May 4) directly to your regional food bank for a 25% bonus to your total competition points. You need to do this to stay competitive! Online donations count as delivered. COLLECTING FOOD & FUNDS The competition is April 16 27. ALL fundraising and food collection must take place during this period. Any money or food collected before or after these dates will not count toward your total, unless it is a specially sanctioned event. Monetary Donations: Contributions of money are tax-deductible and are very welcome. Online donations can be made at the donation link listed on page 1. Again, make sure you indicate what firm it is on behalf and that it is for LFF. Checks should be made payable to your regional Food Bank, as listed on page 1. Make sure to indicate on the for line that the check is for the Legal Food Frenzy competition and which firm or organization you are contributing for! Capital Campaign gifts will NOT be counted towards your competition totals. Collecting Non-Perishable Food Food items will be weighed by your regional Food Bank at the end of the campaign. Most needed food items are Peanut Butter, Canned Tuna, Canned Beans, Canned Soups, Stews, Pastas, 100% Fruit Juice, Canned Fruits, Vegetables, Macaroni and Cheese Dinners, Whole Grains, Low Sugar Cereals (boxed). This will make it easier for the Food Bank to pick up. DELIVERING FOOD & FUNDS TO YOUR FOOD BANK On Friday, April 27, fill out the online End of Campaign form for your regional Food Bank. All donations must be delivered to or picked by your Food Bank by May 4th to count. If a firm delivers all food and monetary contributions to their regional food bank the firm will receive a 25% bonus of tabulated pounds! Online donations count as "delivered. If you want your food donations to be picked up, you must notify the Food Bank of the approximate amount of food you have collected on the end of campaign form in order for the transportation department to prepare properly. Your Food Bank may not pick it up if it is under a certain amount. If your firm only has a monetary contribution and wants it to be picked up, this must be communicated at the time your pick-up date is assigned so the Food Bank can send the appropriate vehicle to your firm. 4

MATCHING DONATIONS How to increase your impact & chance at winning! See if your company or firm, a partner, or even a client will match donations raised during the competition to double or triple the amount of money and meals you raise! WHO CAN MATCH ANYONE! Whoever makes the match will be recognized by name on the Legal Food Frenzy website based on the matching tiers listed below. You could even have multiple matchers. This includes: Your firm or company (we can look up if you already have a matching program in place!) A managing partner or employee A client An outside company, group, or individual HOW MATCHING WORKS Matching Ratios. The matcher can DOUBLE DONATIONS by pledging to donate $1 for every $1 raised during the competition or TRIPLE donations by donating $2 for every $1 raised. They can also do a.5 = 1 ratio, 50 cents for every $1 raised, and so on. You can apply a maximum to matching. The matcher can pledge to match up to $1,000 in donations or $5,000 in donations, etc. Limit matching to a specific day. The matcher could pledge to match all donations on the first day of the competition or the final day. Have an idea? Let us know! We are open to creative matching ideas that will increase your impact. The matching contribution will count towards your firm or organization s Legal Food Frenzy point total, so you will be much more competitive! Get extra recognition! LEGAL FOOD FRENZY EMAIL TEMPLATES SAMPLE EMAIL TO COLLEAGUES Dear Colleagues, The Attorney General and YLD are partnering with Georgia s Food Banks to host the Legal Food Frenzy, a food and fund drive competition among all of Georgia s law firms and legal organizations. Whoever raises the most (based on a per person average attorneys and staff) will be awarded the prestigious Attorney General s Cup. We want to win the Cup and we need EVERYONE in the office to be on board! More importantly, we want to provide vital food assistance to our neighbors in need. IT S SHOCKING: 1 in 4 children in Georgia live in households that can't regularly put food on the table. Yet donations to our Food Bank typically slow in the summer months precisely when the need among their clients is greatest. Everything we raise will stay local and benefit X Food Bank, who directly serves our community. This is an excellent investment with every $1 donated to the Food Bank, they can distribute 4 meals worth of food into our community. Let's rise to the challenge and do our part to reduce hunger in Georgia! Share with everyone - friends, family, clients! This is everyone s fight! >CLICK HERE TO DONATE!< between April 16 27. Our (firm/organization) is competing this year, and we are hoping your company will partner with us! We want to win the competition, but most importantly we want to provide vital assistance to our neighbors in need: IT S SHOCKING: 1 in 4 children in Georgia live in households that can t regularly put food on the table. Between April 16-27 share this donation link with your employees and contacts! Have your company hold a food drive of non-perishable items, delivering the items to us by April 18 th! LEGAL FOOD FRENZY TALKING POINTS Use this when talking to colleagues, friends, family, or clients! The Legal Food Frenzy it is a two-week food and fund drive competition in April among law firms, legal orgs and corporate, in house counsel to see who can have the biggest impact on hunger! It is an effort that began seven years ago in partnership with the Office of the AG, the YLD, and the Georgia Food Bank Association to benefit Georgia s food banks. Whichever firm raises the most per employee will win the prestigious Attorney Generals Cup and the team that raises the most overall will win the Bar President s Award. Winners will be recognized at the Annual Bar Meeting. Now is our chance to go face-to-face with our biggest competition and WIN! Most importantly, our efforts are helping to solve an important issue: HUNGER IN GEORGIA! o Over 1 in 4 of Georgia s children live in food insecure households, meaning they don t always know where they will find their next meal. o 60 percent of Georgia s children rely on free or reduced breakfast and lunch during the school year, but their families often come up short when kids are home for the summer. o The Food Frenzy is perfectly timed to fill this critical need and help the Food Banks meet the higher demand over the summer months. Your donations will go to good use! For every $1 donated to the Food Bank they can, on average, distribute 4 meals worth of food! Everything we raise will stay LOCAL and benefit the Food Bank that serves our community. Our firm s goal is to raise $ and pounds of food! We need to engage all of our colleagues, clients, and friends to make this happen! The actual competition runs from April 16-27. We will be able to raise both food and fund donations, which can be made online, so it is really simple to do! I challenge you! Send our donation link to 5 friends/family members OR reach out to 3 clients to see if they ll contribute or even match donations. Help us meet our goal and help those who need it the most! If we meet our goal, to CELEBRATE, our firm will. 7
