RE-ADVERTISEMENT: DEPUTY DIRECTOR (NURSING SERVICES), JOB GROUP K2 (1 POST) The Deputy Director (Nursing Services) will be reporting to the Director, Clinical Services and will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of nursing services in the Hospital. Developing, maintaining and implementing nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice and operational policies while maintaining compliance with National laws and regulations. Communicating and interpreting policies and procedures to nursing staff and monitor their practices and implementation. Coordinating patient care activities in collaboration with nurse managers, administrative and other technical personnel in the Hospital. Developing nursing standards and playing a leading role in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the standards. Ensuring that the planning and delivery of nursing services are addressed and meet the changing needs of clients. Collaborating with consultants, administrative and other medical staff to improve the quality of services to patients and to resolve identified problems. Participating in the development and implementation of strategic plans for nursing services. Participating in the annual planning and budgeting for nursing services during preparation of the Hospital budget and ensure proper utilization of allocated funds. Planning, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the divisional/individual performance targets. Qualifications and experience Bachelors Degree in either Nursing or Midwifery from a recognized institution; or Higher Diploma in Nursing; or Diploma in Advanced Nursing Masters degree in Nursing, Public Health, Health Administration, Business Administration or its accepted equivalent from a recognized university. At least three (3) years progressive experience at the level of Deputy Chief Nurse or six (6) years progressive experience at the level of Assistant Chief Nurse in a large Hospital. Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme from a recognized institution or its equivalent. Evidence of at least one (1) month training in general management. Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD). Registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya. Valid practising license from the Nursing Council of Kenya. Demonstrated a high degree of professional competencies and administered capability as well as broad experience in Nursing and Health care standards and programmes. The position is on a three (3) year contract renewable once subject to satisfactory performance. 2. RE-ADVERTISEMENT: MEDICAL SPECIALIST II, PAEDIATRIC SURGERY, JOB GROUP K4 (1 POST) Job purpose The Medical Specialist II, Paediatric Surgery will be responsible to the Chief Medical Specialist/Head of Department and will be expected to take full responsibility for patients under his/her care. Applicants on training for Paediatric Surgery (either fourth or fifth year) may be considered and absorbed at a lower level (Medical Officer I, Job Group K6) for mentorship. MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST I, JOB GROUP K8 (4 POSTS) The Medical Laboratory Technologist I will be responsible to the Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist for the provision of quality diagnostic medical laboratory services in the Hospital. Recruiting, preparing and bleeding of blood donors for transfusion services. Performing blood grouping. Storing blood products according to their requirements. Screening for blood transfusion infections. Collecting and analyzing laboratory findings and resultant data. Processing the specimen according to specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Supervising the disinfection, washing and sterilization of apparatus. Mentoring and coaching trainees on practical attachment. Receiving and scrutinizing laboratory requisition forms and specimens. Preparing clients for collection of specimens for correctness. Receiving, collecting, labelling and registering of specimens. Disaggregating specimens for processing and analysis. Preparing reagents, examining specimens, writing and recording results. Dispatching the results for use in clinical management Bachelors Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences from an institution recognized by Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board. Registration Certificate issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board. A valid practising license from KMLTTB. Certificate of proficiency in computer operations from a recognized institution. 7. REGISTERED CLINICAL OFFICER II (OPHTHALMOLOGY), JOB GROUP K9 (1 POST) The Registered Clinical Officer II, Ophthalmology will be responsible to the Senior Registered Clinical Officer for the management of clinical services in the Hospital. Planning, examining and conducting primary health care activities. Diagnosing and treating patient s ailment in the outpatients/clinics. Undertaking clinical work in the respective areas of deployment. Teaching students attached to the hospital. Supervising and counselling staff engaged on routine patients care. Qualification and Experience A Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a recognized institution. Must have a Higher Diploma in Ophthalmology (Cataract Surgery/general Ophthalmology) from a recognized institution. At least three (3) years relevant experience in a NHIF accredited health facility. Be in possession of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KSCE), mean grade C, with at least C in Biology, English or Kiswahili and a C- in any other two science subjects. Registration with Kenya Clinical Officers Association/ clinical council of Kenya. Must have a valid practicing licence. Certificate of proficiency in computer operations from a recognized institution. 8. PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICER III, JOB GROUP K10 (1 POST) The Public Health Officer III, will be responsible to the Senior Public Health Officer for implementation of sanitation and hygiene standards in the Hospital. Inspection for preventive maintenance in the Hospital, hospital sanitation, healthcare and waste management. Implementing sanitation and hygiene standards in the Hospital. Mobilising, sensitizing and advising Hospital peripheral communities on matters related to environmental health. Identifying environmental health issues. Implementing vector, vermin and rodent control measures. Implementing integrated mosquito control strategies. Diploma in either Environmental Health Science or Public Health Inspection from a recognized institution. At least two (2) years progressive work experience in a large institution. A valid Public Health Officers and Technicians Registration Council Certificate. Certificate of proficiency in computer applications from a recognized institution. Page 7 of 16

9. RE-ADVERTISEMENT: RESOURCE MOBILIZATION MANAGER, JOB GROUP K4 (1 POST) Job purpose Reporting to the Deputy Director, Affiliations & Institutional Development, the Resource Mobilization Manager will be expected to take a leading role in the Hospital resource mobilization programmes. Developing and implementing local and international resource mobilization strategies. Identifying a funding base and fundraising partners and writing funding proposals. Building and sustaining a sound relationship with Government agencies, donors and potential partners. Facilitating resource mobilization programmes within the Hospital. Sensitizing the hospital stakeholders on resources mobilization activities. Assisting in mobilising non-financial resources from private sector entities, individuals and corporate entities. Developing a fund generation and resource mobilisation work plan and constantly follow-up the implementation of the plan. Qualification and work experience Master s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Project Management, Monitoring & Evaluation and/or Equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution. Bachelor s Degree in a relevant field from a recognized university. Proven work experience of not less than two (2) years in resource mobilization. Additional training in resource mobilization and/or fundraising will be an added advantage. Certificate of proficiency in computer operations from a recognized institution. The position is on a three (3) year contract renewable once subject to satisfactory performance. 10. RE-ADVERTISEMENT: CATERING MANAGER, JOB GROUP K5 (1 POST) The Catering Manager will be responsible to the Head of Department, Administration for provision of quality catering services in the Hospital. Setting performance targets and ensuring that they are achieved. Page 8 of 16

Ensuring availability of adequate food supplies all the time. Organizing and managing of the Hospital catering services. Maintaining catering facilities in the Hospital. Preparing expenditure estimates for the unit and ensuring proper utilization of the funds allocated. Ensuring proper utilization and maintenance of office equipment and other supplies in the unit. Spearheading culture change to improve the Hospital image. Promoting the Hospital Occupational Health and Safety initiatives. Coordinating quality assurance activities in the unit. Preparing reports on the operations of the unit. Effective supervision, training and development of staff. Enforcing regulatory/statutory requirements. Masters degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel and Catering Management or Institutional management from a recognised institution. Served in the grade of Deputy Catering Manager for a minimum period of three (3) years or six (6) years progressive experience at the level of Senior Cateress in a large organization. Senior Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks or a Diploma in Catering and Hotel Management or Institution Management from a recognized institution. Member of the Hotel keepers and Caterers Association. Certificate of proficiency in Computer applications from a recognized institution. 11. RE-ADVERTISEMENT: DEPUTY CHIEF MEDICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST, JOB GROUP K5 (1 POST) The Deputy Chief Medical Engineering Technologist will be responsible to the Chief Medical Engineering for the efficient management and control of the Biomedical Engineering Department. Undertaking health technology assessments. Installing, maintaining and repairing high technology medical equipment/plant and furniture. Supervising installations and commissioning/decommissioning of high technology medical equipment and plants. Page 9 of 16

Supervising medical engineering works. Preparing planned preventive maintenance schedule. Ensuring quality of medical equipment in terms of performance and safety. Providing specifications on procurement of appropriate medical equipment. Maintaining and disseminating information on medical engineering services. Training users on use and maintenance of medical equipment. Bachelors Degree in Biomedical or its accepted equivalent from a recognized institution. Proven experience of at least three (3) years at the position of Assistant Chief Medical Engineering Technologist or equivalent position in a level 5 or 6 Hospital. Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution. Registered by a regulatory body or have a certificate of competence from the Association of Medical Engineering of Kenya (AMEK) or any other relevant body. Certificate of proficiency in computer application skills from a recognized institution. 12. RE-ADVERTISEMENT: ASSISTANT CHIEF CORPORATE AFFAIRS & COMMUNICATION OFFICER, JOB GROUP K6 (1 POST) Assistant Chief Corporate Affairs & Communication Officer will be responsible to the Corporate Affairs and Communications Manager for provision of quality corporate communication functions in the Hospital Developing and delivering a wide range of informational, educational, and promotional material concerning the activities of the Hospital. Interface with hospital management, departmental staff and stakeholders to develop and implement communications programs. Implementing internal and external marketing and communication tools and strategies in line with the KNH Corporate Communication and Marketing policy. Coordinating events and visits to ensure the Hospital achieving sustainable advantage and that visitors experience is hospitable. Developing and implementing departmental strategic objectives in line with the balanced scorecard and the KNH strategic plan. Maximizing audience awareness of the services of various departments of the Hospital in collaboration with the Corporate Affairs and Communications Manager. Page 10 of 16

Developing and maintaining positive relationships with the media and other partners to help achieve challenging audience development and other departmental targets. Maintaining relevant statistics and information relating to the overall operation of the department. Devising systems to ensure that Hospital Education and information materials are distributed effectively. Disseminating all Hospital information using all available and relevant Media. Developing, implementing and monitoring departmental Performance Contract. Identifying and maintaining Hospital linkages with possible donors and corporate institutions to support KNH healthcare services. Providing reports to the manager as required. Bachelor s degree in any of the following: International Relations, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or equivalent from an accredited institution. A postgraduate diploma in either Communications, Journalism, Public Relations for those with equivalent qualification. A Master s Degree in one of the following: International Relations, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations will have an added advantage. At least five years relevant work experience in a senior position in a large organization. CHIEF SECURITY & SAFETY SERVICES OFFICER, JOB GROUP K6 (1 POST) Job purpose The Chief Security and Safety Services Officer will be responsible to the Security and Safety Services Manager for the overall development, documentation, administration and implementation of security related strategies in the Hospital. Key responsibilities Setting performance targets and ensuring that they are achieved. Formulating guidelines, procedures and measures for security control in the Hospital. Ensuring security of buildings, plant, equipment, hospital grounds and patients. Page 11 of 16

Ensuring that access to the Hospital grounds, administrative areas, hostels for both students and medical doctors and the wards are properly secured. Preparing expenditure estimates for the department and ensuring proper utilization of funds allocated. Investigating, reporting and tracking all security and safety related issues. Conducting regular risk assessment, developing, updating and implementing security and safety policies. Ensuring evacuation procedures and crisis management plans, in accordance with best practices are communicated and implemented by entire staff. Developing and facilitating security and safety training in view of increasing safety and security departmental competence. Ensuring proper discipline is maintained in security and safety department. Bachelor s degree in social sciences or relevant security field. Minimum of three (3) years progressive working experience in National Police Service (NPS) or military service at the rank of Superintendent in NPS, Major in the military or their equivalent. Training and working knowledge of technical security including Integrated Security Systems (Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Surveillance System, Intruder Alarm System, Access Control System and Visitor Management System). Training in Crime detection, investigations and report writing skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Certificate of proficiency in computer operations from a recognized institution. 14. RISK AND QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICER, JOB GROUP K7 (1 POST) The Risk and Quality Assurance Officer will be responsible to the Quality Assurance Manager for the implementation of quality assurance programmes and ensuring that quality systems are maintained in accordance with the ISO 9001:2015 Standards. Carrying out quality improvement rounds and writing reports. Data collection, entry, cleaning, validation and merging of data. Writing reports and disseminating the same to relevant authorities and departments. Compiling and collating incident reports in the organization. Filing analysed questionnaires and ensuring that it is correctly coded. Assisting head of department in developing customer satisfaction tools. Page 12 of 16

Promoting quality achievements throughout the Hospital by implementing ongoing quality improvement activities. Bachelor s degree in any of the following: Research Methods and statistics; Health Management or Quality Management At least three (3) years experience as lead Auditor of quality/environmental management systems. A certificate in ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditors course will be an added advantage. Proficiency in MS Office applications and statistical analysis packages 15. HOSPITAL PLANNER/STATISTICIAN II, JOB GROUP K8 (1 POST) The Hospital Planner/Statistician I will be responsible to the Senior Hospital Planner I for planning all Hospital development programmes and projects. Participating in the formulation of Hospital development strategies. Conducting feasibility studies and determining viability of projects/programs. Participating in all stages of performance contracting in the Hospital. Carrying out surveys and compiling statistical reports on specific assignments. Qualifications Degree (Second class Honours, Upper Division) in Economics, Statistics or its equivalent qualification from a recognized University. Evidence of proficiency in either SPSS or STATA. Certificate of proficiency in computer operations from a recognized institution. 16. CATERESS II, JOB GROUP K9 (1 POST) Job purpose The Cateress II will be responsible to the Senior Cateress for the efficient management of catering services in the Hospital. Food preparation and production Setting up and directing placement of foods in serving line. Replenishing of foodstuffs in the buffet service line Maintaining correct stock levels Detecting and reporting spoilt or unattractive raw food materials Page 13 of 16

Ensuring proper stock rotation. Ordering of foodstuffs from the main store. Carrying out on the job training for staff. Filing work order forms for defective equipment. A Degree in any of the following disciplines; food production, Hotel and Hospitality Management, housekeeping and laundry, Hotel and Catering Management or Institutional management or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution. A minimum of Div. II in KCE or C+ (Plus) in KCSE. Evidence of at least one (1) month training in general management. Certificate of proficiency in computer operations from a recognized institution. 17. SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT OFFICER II, JOB GOUP K9 (1 POST) The Supplies Chain Officer II will be responsible to the Senior Supplies Officer for provision of timely availability of quality goods and services. Ensuring efficient management of supplies to the user departments. Participating in the preparation of supplies expenditure estimates. Coordinating and participating in issuing and receiving stores. Supervision of junior and/or students on attachment in the department. Bachelor s degree in any of the following: Commerce, Economics, Business Administration, Procurement and Supplies Management or their equivalent from a recognized institution. Conversant with Computer based inventory system. Conversant with the Public Procurement and Disposal Act and other statutory regulations relating to Public Procurement. Registered with Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM). 18. SECURITY & SAFETY SERVICES OFFICER III, JOB GROUP K10 (4 POSTS) The Security & Safety Services Officer III will be responsible to the Security and Safety Services Officer I for a wide range of security measures including keeping and maintaining records of crime charges and incidents. Assisting the Security & Safety Officer I in the planning, organizing, directing, supervising and appraising the work of Security and Safety Wardens in consultation with the Head of Department. Conducting Hospital Security audits/penetration tests on the potential security lapses within the Hospital. Participating in Quality Assurance (QA), Occupational Safety Health & Environment (OSHE) and other departmental committees. Ensuring security strategies for prevention and detection of crime are working effectively. Conducting internal security investigations on all security incidences in the Hospital. Providing close escort and/or protective services to Very Important Person (VIP) to internal visiting VIPs in the Hospital. Writing security and safety related reports. Providing command and leadership, including matters of discipline. Qualification and Experience Minimum grade; KCE Division IV OR KCSE mean grade D (Plain) (i) Diploma in Security Management or any security related field; OR (ii) Served in the grade of Senior Security and Safety Services Warden or equivalent position for at least three (3) years in a reputable organization; OR served in the grade of Security and Safety Services Warden II or its equivalent for at least three (3) years with a certificate in Security Management or related field and possess a KCSE mean grade D+. Command and leadership, basic crime investigation, crime detection, investigation and prevention courses, among other professional courses would be an added advantage. Shown merit and ability in work performance as a Security Supervisor. Demonstrated high standards of discipline and integrity in the course of duty. Certificate of proficiency in computer applications from a recognized institution. 19. MEDICAL GASES OPERATOR III, JOB GROUP 14 (4 POSTS) The Medical Gases Operator III will be responsible to the Medical Engineering Technologist in-charge for the co-ordination of all medical gases services. Planning the requirements of medical gases systems, spare parts, consumable items and devices. Implementing of planned preventive maintenance. Promoting the hospital Occupational Health and Safety initiatives. Implementing policy and quality assurance standards. Giving user technical instruction on operation, care and medical gases systems. Qualification and Experience K.C.S.E mean grade D plain or KCE Division IV. Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Plant Maintenance from a recognized institution.
