After leaving the PNG public service he established PNG Counselling and Care in Port Moresby in 2003, specialising in critical incident (trauma) counselling. Aaron has travelling widely throughout PNG providing counselling and psychological interventions for employees of banks, airlines and resource companies following accidents, disasters and criminal attacks. Mr Joachim ToRavit Senior Counsellor (casual / sessional) Master of Clinical Counselling (ACU Sydney) 2014 Bachelor of Social Science (Counselling) (ACU Brisbane) 2008 Dip. Primary Teaching (Gaulim T.C.) 1997 Member of the Australian Counselling Association ٠ After beginning his career as a primary teacher, Joachim retrained in the counselling field and became the first Papua New Guinean to obtain a masters degree in this field from Australian Catholic University. Following a stint as a campus counsellor and lecturer at St Benedict s teachers college in Wewak he joined PNG Counselling and Care at the beginning of 2011, initially on full time basis as later on casual / sessional basis while he pursued further studies and employment opportunities elsewhere. Joachim is now probably PNG s most experienced and widely travelled critical incident counsellor and has provided on site support at many remote locations including Lihir, Porgera and Hides. Joachim comes from Rabaul. Mrs Justina Ajokpaezi Senior Counsellor (casual / sessional) Master of Guidance and Counselling (Nigeria) 1997 B.A. / B.Ed. Office and contact details Due to a downturn in demand for face-to-face counselling in Port Moresby during 2015 our counselling rooms at Moisana St, Korobosea were closed at the end of 2015. We now maintain only a small home/office in Gordons for administration and booking purposes. Our current service capacity is limited to: phone counselling (either business hours or after hours, as convenient) face to face counselling at employer s premises (both in Port Moresby and at remote sites) face to face counselling at public venues such as quiet corners of coffee shops and hotel lounges (either business hours or after hours, as convenient) Apart from the director (now based in Cairns and providing services on fly in / fly out basis when needed) all our other counsellors currently work on casual / sessional basis only when we have appointments available for them. Once demand picks up again we plan to re-establish a larger office with counselling rooms. Current booking procedure: 1. Send an email request to png.counselling@gmail.com 2. Phone or text our office manager Emmanuel Kailom on 7204 6950 (Digicel) or 7604 8347 (BeMobile) between 8am and 5pm. If no answer, please try again after a few minutes, send a text or wait for a callback. NB Initial contact by email is preferred so we can have a permanent record of the request and see the client s name in writing (and employer s e-mail domain if any) to help us determine whether the client is employed by an organisation that we are in contract with (or an eligible sub-contractor), or enquiring as a private individual, before we start offering appointments or giving information about pricing, session limits etc. We are in contract with multiple corporate employers and EAP firms and it can be tricky trying to give out correct information on the spot when cold called over the phone.
