The 2011 ASSADPAM promises to be a highlight in our calendar with opportunities to meet and network with participants from all over the country. This is our first ASSADPAM conference hosted by CPUT and we are excited with the response that we had thus far. We have prominent keynote speakers at the Conference. There will be three days of discussion, networking and learning. The Conference Gala Dinner event promises to be a great opportunity for networking between local and national academics and public sector leaders. Over and above attending the conference, delegates from outside the Western Cape will have the opportunity to experience the warm hospitality is to offer, while enjoying the Mother City s beautiful and scenic tourist attractions and places of interest. The Faculty of Business, Department of Public Management at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology invites you to submit abstracts for consideration for its 2011 ASSADPAM Conference, to be held in from 5 7 September 2011. Public management at a crossroad in a changing world The theme is broad so as to attract appropriate and innovative position papers on current, completed or planned research which includes critical and scholary analysis on the role and contribution of the discipline in the dynamic local and global environment. To conceptualise the main theme and to facilitate the focus of the position papers, four focus areas have been formulated as sub-themes, namely: policy and governance; social development; economic development and public finance; environmental management; and teaching and learning. Papers are invited representing the current state of the discipline in managing the foregoing, which will further contribute to the body of knowledge, as it relates to theory, teaching and practice. A wide variety of related issues can be addressed within the parameters of the above terms. Also note that a research workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, 7 September 2011. The research workshop will be facilitated by Prof Christelle Auriacombe (University of Johannesburg). The research workshop will be restricted to ten (12) participants. GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS Format of abstract and final paper: electronic format as MS Word document. Abstract should be 1 to 2 pages and in English. Name and address of author to whom correspondence should be addressed to be provided on a separate title page. All abstracts will be reviewed and may be selected for oral presentation. English will be the language for all oral presentations. Notification of acceptance by the Committee will be e-mailed to the author. Failure to register by the presenting author will automatically imply that the abstract will neither be included in the final program or conference flash drive Final papers should not exceed 6000 words and must include an abstract of no more than 200 words, typed in double spacing, 12pt Times New Roman.
