Various Olympiad for Class VIII Students National Level Science Talent Search Exam (NLSTSE): This diagnostic test identifies talented students from Class VIII. What's unique about these exams? They include interesting questions that require thinking, not simply recalling as per the traditional techniques. NSTSE provides a detailed skill-wise feedback, highlighting the strength & weaknesses of students. Conducting Body: Unified Council Subjects : Maths 25, Physics 25, Chemistry 20, Biology 20 General Questions 10 Indian National Olympiad (INO): Financially supported by the Govt. of India, Olympiads involve a five stage procedure. The first stage of Indian National Olympiad is NSE (National Standard Examination), which is held for each subject and is overseen and organized entirely by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT). However, all the remaining four stages are conducted by HBCSE. The five stage are : I : National Standard Examination (NSE), II: Indian National Olympiad, III: Orientation cum selection camp, IV : Pre departure training camp, : V Participation in International Olympiad Subjects : Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy and Junior Science. Science Olympiad Foundation: This non-profit organization established by leading academicians, scientists and media personalities conducts competitive exam for students of class VIII. The foundation conducts separate exams for subjects like Computer (National Cyber Olympiad), Maths (International Maths Olympiad ), Science (National Science Olympiad ) and English (International English Olympiad). Junior Science Talent Search Examination (JSTSE) For Class IX Junior Science Talent Search Examination (JSTSE) is conducted by Science Branch of Directorate of Education, Delhi, every year usually in the month of January for the students of recognized schools of Delhi. Only students of class IX, can appear this exam, you need to secure 65% in your previous class VIII. The JSTSE process starts in July/August where you have to fill in a registration form and send it to the Directorate Of Education. The first level paper is divided into 2 parts. Total 200 Questions in 3:30 hrs. The First Part is a 1 hour GK paper which tests your knowledge of GK, current affairs etc. It is a 50 marks paper. More importantly all the questions in the first level paper are MCQ type in the first level with each question for 1 mark each (except some questions in GK) there is no negative marking. The GK Paper Includes social sciences, Basics Sciences 86 current Affairs 50 questions (31 questions SST(History 15, Civics 7,Geography 8, Eco-1),16 Basics Sciences(Physics 4 Chemistry 8 Bio 4) and 3 Current Affairs). The Second Part level paper is a 2:30 Hrs paper that tests your Maths and Science. It Includes Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics & Mental Ability 150 Questions(40 Physics, 40 Chemistry, 40 Biology 30 Mathematics & Mental Ability) The first round results come out usually in mid April and are uploaded at the Directorate of Education websites under public Circulars like in delhi (edudel.nic.in). There are about 150-155 students selected in the first level. For the Second Level you have to give an interview held usually in July. Scholarships: Eligibility :- 01 to 103 Ranks -Rs1000/- & 104 to 158 Ranks Rs 500/- for two years (provided in 9th and 10 class) No. of Scholarships:- There are 150-155 scholarships for JSTSE per year. National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) for Class X National Talent Search Scheme is a flagship activity of the NCERT started in the year 1963. The purpose of the scheme was to identify talented students and nurture their talent. Talent refers to the potentiality that manifests itself in its high level of performance in one or more specialized areas.ncert conducts the NTSE for Students of Class X. 1.Scholarships: On the basis of the exam conducted, 1000 scholarships will be awarded for each group of students appearing for class-x Exam. The amount of scholarship will be Rs. 1250/- per month for class XI - X II & Rs. 2000/- per month for under graduates/post graduates. Amount of scholarship for PhD be fixed in accordance with the UGC norms. 2.Reservation: 15% scholarships will be reserved for students belonging to the SC category, 7.5% scholarship for students belonging to the ST category and 3% for Physically Challenged students. 3.Selection: There will be two stage selection process for award of scholarship. a. Stage- I, selection will be done by States / UTs through a written examination. b. Students, who qualify Stage-I, will be eligible to appear for Stage-II examination, conducted by NCERT. 4. Eligibility: Students of Class X studying in recognized schools are eligible to appear for the Stage-I exam. 5. Dates for submission of application form and conduct of examination are given below: Stage-I (State)Last date for submission of application form: Tentatively August month. Exam in all states and Union Territories:Ist Week of Nov Stage-II (National) Exam in all states and Union Territories: 2nd week of May(Sunday) NTSE Application Form: Form can be downloaded from NCERT website (www.ncert.nic.in) also. The completed application form should be signed by the Principal of the School. Fees:States and UT may notify the fee required which will be paid for the Stage-I examination. charge for Stage-I examination and also the mode of payment from the respective State Liaison Officers (Los). However, NCERT does not charge any fee for Stage-II examination. Results Announcement: Results of the Stage-1 examination will be announced by the respective State Govt. / UT. The fees once deposited towards a particular course is non-refundable, non-transferable & it can't be adjusted (partly or full fees) in any other course under any circumstances.* 2. If any students chooses both Biology & Mathematics, 20% extra fees will be charged. 3. Any change of address / contact no. of students should be notified to the office within 7-10 days in writing. 4. Student must attend classes regularly. If a student is absent from classes for more than one week in a row, he / she is required to submit a leave application duly signed by their parent / guardian to the Centre Head. In case of long absenteeism without prior intimation, the admission of the students will be deemed cancelled without any notice to the student / parent. In such case, any fees or part of fees will not be refunded. 5. The student is solely responsible for the fulfillment of eligibility criteria for entrance examination / course. The institute neither undertakes nor shall hold any responsibility for the failure of the student in submission of admission form or its subsequent rejection by the concerned examining body on any grounds whatsoever. 6. Takshila Academy (P) Ltd reserves the right to use the photographs and / or testimonial letter of the student in any promotional / publicity material of the Institute. The Institute will not be liable to any legal proceedings or claims from student /guardian /parent. 7. The parents can meet the Centre Head for any enquiry about their ward's progress with prior appointment only. 8. If any cheque of student is dishonored or stop payment of cheque for any reason, appropriate action may be initiated by Takshila Academy (P) Ltd as per Negotiable Instrument Act. An administrative charges of Rs. 250/-would be levied for every dishonored cheque &Institute is free to take legal action against the student / parent & the Fees in lieu of the dishonored cheque will strictly have to be paid through Bank Demand Draft / Pay Order / Cash only. 9. The student must protect and preserve the property of the Institute with utmost care. 10. GST (as applicable on the date) is payable along with the course fees. In case of any increase in the GST 18% by the Government of India, such increase in tax shall be borne by the student from the date of notification. Service tax will be charged on net fees ( i.e. total program fees less scholarship granted to the student). 11. Students enrolled at Takshila Academy (P)Ltd have to maintain proper decorum in the Institute premises at all times. Indiscipline of any form or misbehavior of students or their parents / guardian with the Staff / faculty could lead to suspension / rustication. The decision of management will be final & binding on the student / parent in any such case. 12. No visitor will be allowed to meet any student in the Institute premises without the permission of the Centre Head. 13. It is mandatory for all the students to submit the photocopies of admit card (Entrance Exam roll no.) & application form of JSTSE / NTSE / Olympiad JEE (MAIN &ADVANCED) / PMT and other entrance tests they are going to appear in. 14. The student is not allowed to carry mobile phones / I-pods in the classroom. He / She is advised not to bring such gadgets in the institute. If student bring the same, it has to be deposited at front desk before the class, but the Institute is not responsible for any loss / theft / damage. 15. Each student will be issued an Identity card. The entry into the classes / Institute will be only with the I-card. If the identity card of a student is lost / misplaced, a duplicate I-card can be issued from the Institute on payments of Rs. 100/-. If any student is found misusing the I-Card, he / she will be rusticated from the Institute. 16. It is mandatory to bring study material & bag at the time of class in the institute. If the study package provided to the student is lost /misplaced, a duplicate set of the book(s) can be obtained from the institute against payment of book cost. 17. If the bag provided to the student is lost /misplaced, a new bag can be obtained from the institute against a payment of Rs. 300/-. 18. If any type of mishap occurs in the premises of Takshila Institute because of situations beyond control or natural calamity of any type such as earthquake, floods, Electric short circuit, fire etc., the institute shall not be responsible in any manner whatsoever. 19. A student, who is late by 10 minutes or more for the classes /tests will not be allowed to enter the classroom. 20. Takshila Academy (P) Ltd reserves its right to make any alternations in its programs / venue / centre / timing duration and days of classes / terms & conditions without any prior notice to any one. The decision of management in this regard will be final and binding on the students/ parents. 21. Two passport size photographs & registration fees has to be paid at the time of enrollment which is adjustable in the total fees. 22. Fees have to be paid in full or as per plan of payment. Fees Settlement Plan has to be signed by both the parents & students. After accepting the plan, no change of any type is possible and fees or any part of fees once paid is not refundable under any circumstances. 23. If fees is to be paid in Installments, then the Account payee local PDC's will be deposited at the time of Admission only. 24. Course Fees may vary from centre to centre and state to state. 25. Institute is free to send Emails/ SMS or make informative phone calls to the students & their parents /guardians for any information without any legal liability. 26. By taking the admission in any course at Takshila Institute, it will be deemed that student and his/her parent has read, understood and agreed upon all the above terms and conditions. 27. The institute is not responsible for providing parking facility to students / Parents/GuardiansNisitors. 28. In case of any dispute or difference between students / parents / guardians and Institute regarding the interpretation of these terms and conditions, non-payment of any claim or any dispute arising out of or in pursuant to these terms and conditions, the same shall be referred to Sole Arbitrator who shall be appointed by M.D. of Takshila Academy (P) Ltd. The proceedings shall be conducted at New Delhi under the provisions of Arbitration & Conciliation Act 1996 & statutory modification thereof and the Courts at Delhi only shall have the jurisdiction over the matter and / or for enforcement as the case may be. If an Arbitrator to whom the matter is referred refuses to act or for any reason, does not enter the reference or after entering into the reference proceedings are abandoned or kept in abeyance or not proceeded with, it shall be lawful for the M.D. of Takshila Academy (P) Ltd to appoint another person to act as Arbitrator in the manner aforesaid. Such person shall be entitled to proceed with reference from the stage at which was left by his predecessor, if both the parties consent to this effect, failing which the Arbitrator will be entitled to proceed denovo. 29.
