R.A.I.S.E. Research Administration Information Sharing & Education - Cohort Series The R.A.I.S.E. Series is a cohort style training program led by Carnegie Mellon s own subject matter experts who will cover a wide variety of general research administration topics, as well as processes and procedures that are unique to CMU. The series will begin in September 2017 and will feature a curriculum of 15 core sessions, ranging from proposal initiation through award closeout and audit, and one final (optional) closing session. Please review the session schedule below for detailed information. Registration for the R.A.I.S.E. Series will be available via FocusU beginning on Tuesday, August 2nd. Attendance for this cohort will be limited and participants are expected to attend all 15 sessions. FAR, FAR away we all wish these clauses were FAR from our federal primes and federal flow down agreements, but the nature of our research requires CMU to conduct work in accordance with the regulations. This session will provide information on the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), the clauses that are critical to the university, and those clauses that industry may accept that the university cannot. RESEARCH COMPLIANCE BASICS: EXPORT CONTROLS AND CONFLICT OF INTEREST JANUARY 9, 2018 9:00 A.M. 11:30 A.M. The Export Basics training will provide a brief overview and focus on topics relevant to the university research community such as: international research, hosting foreign visitors, shipping items to another country, fundamental research exclusion, international proposals and agreements reviews, and provide real life examples of when to contact Export Compliance for assistance. The Conflict of Interest discussion will focus on case studies, federal regulations, and CMU policies related to disclosure and management of personal, financial, and organizational conflicts of interest.
