The NCFA s 2017 Annual Meeting, Full Speed Ahead, will feature a new format compared to previous meetings, but our tradition of an informative speaking program, plenty of entertainment, and hospitality will be on display. With its lively and beautiful downtown area, Wilmington is one of the membership s favorite destinations. Our meeting will start on Wednesday afternoon with a speaking program followed by an evening reception on the decks of the USS North Carolina. The focus of the Wednesday session will be on our forest resources and markets. Thursday morning, the membership will go back into a general session that will look at some of the challenges our industry is successfully addressing. The morning session will close with the recognition of the Friends of Forestry Legislative Awards. Members participating in the afternoon recreation activities will be given a box lunch. The annual awards dinner will take place on Thursday evening followed by a casino night. The meeting concludes on Friday with the fourth quarter meeting of the NCFA s Board of Directors. RECREATION ACTIVITIES THE TIMBER HACKER S GOLF TOURNAMENT is scheduled for a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. at Compass Pointe Golf Club which is located at 2431 The Pointe Club Drive in Leland, NC 28451. Phone number is (910) 777-7766. As always, the Tournament will employ a Captain s Choice format. Mulligans will be on sale to support the Friends of Forestry PAC. The registration fee is $100.00. FULL SPEED AHEAD! THE SPORTING CLAYS TOURNAMENT will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the Buccaneer Gun Club. The cost is $25.00 per person and participants should bring gun and two boxes of shells. The Lewis Class Judging will be employed. SPOUSE PROGRAM FEATURES BOAT TOUR OF WILMINGTON The NCFA has reserved the Wilmington, which is a state-of-the-art catamaran, for the spouse program. The Wilmington has a wake canceling design and is fully enclosed for comfort. The tour will give guests a unique view of Wilmington while enjoying assorted refreshments. The spouse program takes place on Thursday afternoon during the recreation activities. CASINO NIGHT The entertainment for this year s meeting revolves around rolling dice and spinning wheels! Casino Night takes place on Thursday evening after the awards dinner. Members will put their luck to the test in various chance games. The gaming will be accompanied with a disc jockey music and various refreshments. SILENT AUCTION SUPPORTS EDUCATION INITIATIVES The proceeds from NCFA s silent auction will support the NCFA s Forestry Education and Conservation Foundation. The auction will take place on Thursday and all purchases are tax deductible. This year s effort is being led by Jim Durham.
