Year 7-2017 Frankston High School is offering six scholarships to students who wish to enrol at Year 7 level in 2017. The scholarships will recognize excellence in academic achievement and in four areas which the school has identified as priorities for 2017: ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT MUSIC (Instrumental or Vocal) SPORT General SPORT Athletics SPORT Swimming Tablet Notebook (See Separate Application) The Academic Achievement, Music, Sport-General, Sport Athletics and Sport-Swimming Scholarships will contribute substantially to the educational costs for the successful students' first two years of secondary school. Scholarship recipients will be awarded $500.00 towards their schooling in Year 7 and $300.00 in Year 8. Page 1 of 7
Year 7-2017 SELECTION CRITERIA Academic Achievement The candidate must demonstrate the following: 1. Broad academic skills (according to school report and/or reference). 2. Having been an outstanding ambassador for his/her primary school and a role model for others. 3. An enthusiasm for, and awareness of, learning. 4. A willingness to participate and lead. 5. Skills of communication and co-operation. Music (Instrumental or Vocal) The candidate must demonstrate the following: 1. A high level of skill on an instrument (e.g. recorder, guitar) or in the vocal area. 2. A high level of understanding of basic music theory. 3. Consistent progress in the study of music (i.e. developing practical skills and theoretical knowledge). 4. A willingness to participate in a variety of musical activities, including group and solo performance. 5. A commitment to practice and aiming for excellence in the study of music. 6. The candidate should have been an outstanding ambassador for his/her primary school and a role model for others. Sport - (General Athletics & Swimming) The candidate must demonstrate the following: 1. Has achieved a high level of representation in his/her sport (e.g. Peninsula, State, National). 2. Priority would be given to sporting areas offered by Frankston High School. 3. Has demonstrated leadership skills. 4. Has been an outstanding ambassador for his/her primary school and a role model for others. 5. Has demonstrated a commitment to training and practice in an effort to achieve excellence. Page 2 of 7

IMPORTANT NOTES Steps to be taken by parents: Return the scholarship application to your child s Primary School by Friday 13 May 2016. If applying for more than one scholarship, please submit separate scholarship applications. Please provide a current Year 6 mid year report, and attach any additional information which may assist your submission, to each scholarship application. Each scholarship is reviewed by a different panel and must contain its own full set of supporting evidence. Provide photocopied documentation only DO NOT send original documents, as they will not be returned to you. It is acceptable to produce your own scholarship application portfolio, but please use the format provided, and ensure this form is completed in full. Please submit Scholarship Applications separate to Out of Zone Application, as the are two completely different processes. For students residing outside the Frankston High School zone, an Out of Zone Application must be submitted in order for the Scholarship Application to be considered. Notes for Primary School Principals and Transition Co-ordinators: This Scholarship Application MUST be returned by the Primary School to Frankston High School and not lodged separately by parents.
