Homecoming Court Responsibilities/Benefits - Student must be available between Monday, September 18 through Thursday, September 28 for an interview with the Kent State Trumbull Homecoming Committee. - Student must be available to participate in Homecoming Week events Monday, October 9th through Thursday, October 12th. Events will most likely occur between 11AM-1PM. - Student must be available to participate in Homecoming Day, Saturday, October 14th o Homecoming parade in downtown including King, Queen, and Homecoming Court on Saturday, October 14th, set to begin at 10AM o Recognition of Kent State Trumbull King, Queen, and Homecoming Court during halftime of the football game vs. Miami, set to begin at 3PM. - Students selected to be King or Queen will also receive a $250 Kent State Trumbull book scholarship for the Spring 2018 semester. The Homecoming Court selection committee should be able to look at your resume and clearly understand what kind of involvement you ve had as a Kent State University student. This involves academics, leadership, community involvement, employment, achievements and anything you feel is important to share. Your resume must be in PDF format.
The Interview Process I can t make any of the interview times. What should I do? If you are absolutely sure you can t make any of the available interview times, please email klovell1@kent.edu. Where do the interviews take place? All interviews will take place at the Enrollment Management and Student Services building Please plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled interview time. Do I need to bring anything to my interview? No, the selection committee will have your application on hand. Who is on the selection committee? The selection committee is a group of Kent State Trumbull administrative professionals and faculty. This group can be anywhere from three people to 5 people. Be prepared to be interviewed by a group. What kind of questions will be asked? The committee is looking for well-rounded Kent State students. Be prepared to share your knowledge of Kent State and your experience as a student. How long is the interview? The interview typically lasts 15 minutes. Candidates are asked questions and there is time left for the candidate to ask any questions for the selection committee. What should I wear to the interview? Just like any interview, business attire is encouraged. Women should wear knee-length skirts or dress pants with a dress shirt and jacket. Men should wear dress pants, shirt, tie and jacket. After the Interview When will I know if I made Homecoming Court? The Homecoming Court (including King and Queen) will be announced on Friday, September 16th via email. The Homecoming Court will also be contacted by members of the committee. I feel I am a well-rounded student and I did great on my interview, but I was not selected. What can I do? When the announcement of Homecoming Court is made, the decision is final. If you were not selected, we hope it does not hinder your entire Kent State experience and that you still remain proud of all your accomplishments. How are the Homecoming Queen and King selected? Each court member has a growing score based on several criteria that remains concealed by the Trumbull campus. This information remains concealed to keep the selection of Queen and King as fair as possible.
