She will discuss a project promoting childhood and adolescent wellness and mindfulness. BOARD MEETING Wednesday, 6/20 at 5:30pm The next Board Meeting will be held Wednesday night (6/20) from 5:30-6:30 pm. The meeting will be held in Kim Metz's Conference Room at the Hunterdon County Polytech in the Bartles Corner Campus. The address is: 8 Bartles Corner Road, Suite 2 - Flemington, NJ 08822. General Directions are: Go North on Route 31 and pass through the BJ's & HMC traffic light. Take a right at the next traffic light onto Bartles Corner Road. Take the first right onto Leisure Court at the Bartles Corner Commercial complex. Take the second drive on the right. Go to the very end of the building. Park and enter there. Kim's office is located there. BEERFEST COMMITTEE MEETING Wed, 6/20 at 6:30pm Ira Liebross has called a BeerFest meeting in Kim's Conference Room at the Hunterdon County Polytech in the Bartles Corner Campus. The meeting will immediately follow the Board Meeting at 6:30pm. 2 of 13 6/19/2018, 6:36 PM Thanks to Ken Skowronek and Herb Bohler for attending this year's Pedals for Progress Collection! Thanks also to Ira Liebross' son for attending to help. Ken reported that approximately 60 Bicycles and 10 Sewing Machines were collected. The Rev. Dr. Herb Bohler is nicely in the process of putting together a photo album for the event. LUNCH DUES INVOICE for the 2018-2019 Flemington Rotary Calendar Year From Ken Skowronek, Lunch Treasurer On July 1st, we will be starting the 2018-2019 Flemington Rotary calendar year. Ken will be handing out lunch dues invoices in the next few weeks. Members can either pay Semi-Annually with a payment on July 1 and January 1 (or) in a single payment to cover the entire July 2018 to June 2019 calendar year at this time. CHANGING of the GUARD DINNER Tuesday, June 26 from 6-9pm Location: 55 Main The Changing of the Guard Dinner is scheduled for Tuesday, June 26 at 55 Main, located at 55 Main Street in Flemington. Parking is available behind the restaurant. Please join your fellow Rotarians as President Kim turns the gavel over to incoming President, Nik Kritharis. Award presentations will include the coveted Rotarian of the Year & Paul Harris Fellow. Other awards will include Perfect Attendance as presented by Club Secretary, Kyle Fogarty, and awards presented by President Kim herself. Dinner will be buffet style allowing everyone to walk around and mingle. The idea is not to stay seated in one spot all night. Food to include appetizers, mixed greens salad, grilled salmon/shrimp, braised beef short ribs, Chicken Saltimbocca, veggies and potatoes. Dessert to include Key Lime pie, cookies and a lemon tart. The evening is BYOB. So please bring your own favorite wine, beer or spirit to enjoy with your spouse/significant-other/guest.

Please RSVP by Wednesday, June 20 to the Evite invitation that was sent to you via email. If you did not receive an Evite for some reason, please let us know if you are able to attend. Please indicate the total number attending when you do RSVP. Cost to Attend: Pay-as-you-go members will pay $15 for their meal. No cost for their spouses. Semiannual and annual paying members and their spouses attend free of charge. No cost for spouses of deceased members. Friends of Rotary will pay $45 per person. 2018 Flemington Rotary SPRING SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS Presented at the Wed, 5/30/18 Club Meeting At the Wed, 5/30 Flemington Rotary Club Meeting at Al Fresco's, Ken Skowronek (Chair of the Scholarship Committee) handed each of the following five (5) students a $1500 scholarship check towards their higher education. To ensure the funds are truly used for their higher education, the checks were made payable to the schools that the students will be attending this fall. The following are the five (5) scholarship recipients, including the school that they will be attending: Erin Shaw (H.C. Polytech Student): Community services has become a major priority for Erin, starting with the influence of Girl Scouts. The motto of Girl Scouts is "to serve God and my country, to help people all times and to live by the Girl Scout Law". Completing her Bronze and Silver Awards, she had the opportunity to collect and donate food for local homeless shelters and create over 200 homemade art and activity booklets for patients at the Alfred L. Dupont Hospital for Children. She is very involved in the church community as well at St. Luke Parish where she completed over 50 hours of service to achieve the Presidential Award and worked as the Head Coordinator for the food pantry where she helped donate over 200 pounds of food. Currently enrolled in Polytech's Commercial Art and Design program and a member of the National Art Honor Society, she plans to attend Virginia Commonwealth University in the fall to pursue her goal as a graphic designer. Kayla Whitlock (HCRHS Student): Every summer Kayla travels with her church to assist impoverished members of the community; specifically, those with disabilities who need handicap accessible homes. As a captain of the cross country and track teams, she

4 of 13 6/19/2018, 6:36 PM shares her passion for running through serving as a trainer for the Hunterdon County Track and Field Special Olympics. She is a peer mentor, member of Connect Club, and has volunteered with the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen and Relay for Life. Currently, she volunteers at the Cancer Support Center of Central Jersey where she helps those who have lost loved ones to cancer. This student is a servant leader who will pursue a career as a speech pathologist with the intention of helping those with disabilities. Kayla will be attending the University of Maryland in the fall. Katarina Stephanik (HCRHS Student): Katarina spends over one hundred hours each year volunteering at the Hunterdon Medical Center where she delivers flowers to patients and assists visitors. Excelling academically, she is a member of five honor societies and received praise referrals for exemplifying the H.C.R.H.S. Pillars of Characters. She is committed to educating others as a Sunday school teacher at her church and a member of the Teen Prevention and Education Program, which helps students with healthy decisionmaking. She is a member of the Field Hockey Team, Girls Scouts, Connect Club, and serves as the president of the Doctors of Tomorrow Club. With career aspirations in the medical field, Katarina is committed to the service of others. Katarina will be attending The College of New Jersey. Panayiois "Peter" Kousoulas (HCRHS Student): Every major holiday, Peter can be found assisting local food pantries through delivering and serving those who are less fortunate. As a president of his youth group, he has worked with numerous other local charities to help serve the community. He is a member of four honor societies and served as the Co-President of the French Honor Society where he led the organization's first fundraiser. As a co-captain of the Cross-Country team, he mentored younger runners and assisted them in achieving personal records. With an intended major of mechanical engineering, Peter seeks to use his career to improve the lives of others. Peter will be attending Rutgers University. Daniel DellaFave (HCRHS Student): For eight years, Daniel has been a member of Hunterdon Outreach Programs, which is an organization dedicated to helping the special needs community participate in athletic events with one-on-one volunteers in a supportive environment. In the position of super-leader, he runs sessions, pairs athletes, and oversees events for Hunterdon Outreach. Daniel is a member of three honors societies and the academic team. He also shows a commitment to serving others through tutoring and as a member of Connect Club, where he eats lunch and attends events with special needs students. Daniel will be attending the University of Notre Dame. THE OBJECT OF ROTARY: The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster: 1 st : The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service; 2 nd : High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society; 3 rd : The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business and community life; 4 th : The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
