Festival of Bands General Information TRAVEL: Via: S&R Transit Depart: Saturday, September 24 th, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Return: Saturday, September 24 th, 2016 at approximately 9:00 p.m. BUSES: Three (3) 44 passenger school buses S&R Transit Kingsport, TN 863-4833 NOTE: NO FOOD, DRINKS, OR GUM ALLOWED ON BUSES!!! CONTACT: Mr. Chris Smithson, Director of Bands (423) 354-1222 Band Office ATTIRE/ UNIFORM: WE WILL BE WEARING OUR BIBBERS AND SCRUBS ON THE BUS. ALL band members must carry uniform bag onto bus. Once we arrive at DCHS, we will put on our jackets. We will change uniforms after our performance. Everyone must wear their show shirt. MEMBERS ARE TO BE IN UNIFORM AT ALL TIMES! CHECKLIST: -black gloves (clean) -black socks (Long) & shoes (clean) -show shirt, shorts -band uniform (jacket, bibs, shako, scrubs, plume, etc) -instrument &/or equip (accessories sticks, valve oil, tape, etc.) -extra $$$ for food or souvies -hat &/or sunscreen -jacket/blankets in case it gets chilly (TRUST ME!!!)

Judges critique Back to buses to change/load equipment Sit is designated area and watch the next 3 bands/eat Approximate time for awards ceremony Approximate departure time for return to Central High School Arrive at Central High School (estimated time) Everything must be unloaded and uniforms hung up and put away properly before ANYONE may leave.

CODE OF CONDUCT All Band Members are here by choice and will be treated as adults. In return, he or she is expected to act as an adult at all times and to avoid those situations that would cause one to compromise themselves, the Sullivan Central High School Band, Central High School itself, and the Sullivan County Department of Education. It is advisable for all members of the Sullivan Central High School Band to realize that they are members of one of the most visible organizations on campus: Ambassadors of Sullivan Central High School. Alcoholic beverages, tobacco, etc. are strictly prohibited. Violators will be expelled from the band and prohibited from participating in any SCHS ensembles, and will receive a failing grade. ANY conduct which is not exemplary or which reflects poorly on Sullivan Central High School will result in a summary dismissal from the organization. If the deviant behavior occurs while on an off-campus trip, the student(s) will be sent home at their own expense or that of their parent(s)/legal guardian. Itineraries of touring events will be distributed with departure points and times listed. These times are crucial. Any student who is not present for the departure will be left and counted absent and unexcused. To be on time is to be late To be early is to be on time! APPEARANCE It is expected that all students will appear in uniform completely dressed with the uniform worn properly, the shako adjusted properly, and with all zippers zipped. It is also expected that the uniform be kept neat and properly hung with shoes being polished before each performance. Again, while not in uniform, students will wear designated band shirt with either shorts or jeans (with no holes please!) Please be neat and tidy! Any uniform not hung properly will be dealt with. GENERAL RULES: -NO foul language permitted -Students are to remain in seats (at all times) while the bus is in motion -NO audio devices without headphones -Any student returning home (not riding buses) must have a note from parent and parent must see the Director and chaperone on that student s bus before they take the student that student must take appropriate action upon arrival back with their equipment ***TRIVIA: Why did David Crockett move to Texas from his home in Northeast Tennessee?

When you come to the signal light at Jonesborough, go straight. When this road comes to an end, turn right. Continue on this road through downtown Jonesborough. When you come to a round-about in the road, take the right (Rt. 353). David Crockett High School will be on your right in about 2 miles. Go Cougar Band!!!!!!!
