REVELSTOKE CREDIT UNION COMMUNITY GIVING PROGRAM Annually, in January, the Board of Directors will declare the amount of funds designated to the Community Giving Program. Request for applications will be posted in the community. Distribution to successful applicants will be at the Annual General Meeting in April. OBJECTIVE Revelstoke Credit Union is a community partner and will strive to improve the quality of life in Revelstoke. ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA Community Giving will be delivered in partnership and will support groups within the community (rather than individuals) providing benefits to Revelstoke in one or more of the following areas: economic benefits environmental benefits lifestyle benefits social benefits APPLICATION PROCESS Applications for Community Giving support will be considered if they meet the following criteria: compatible with, and provides benefit to the credit union s mission, vision, and values; will engender broad support within the Revelstoke marketplace; and is geographically specific to Revelstoke. Organizations submitting applications for Community Giving support must: be a legal entity; based in Revelstoke have a positive history and possess the capability to manage the project; have the ability to implement the required checks and balances; provide a status report to Board of Directors; be willing to allow Revelstoke Credit Union the sole discretion of continued sponsorship. APPROVAL PROCESS A Committee of the Board of Directors (the Membership and Public Relations Committee) will review all applications, conduct necessary research and develop a recommendation for the Board s consideration. RECOGNITION EXPECTATIONS Revelstoke Credit Union is seeking to compliment community capacity and therefore, does not require exclusive recognition for projects that it sponsors. The credit union will expect to receive appropriate recognition, as determined through discussions with the recipient. This recognition will be commensurate with the scale of its support. but not be limited to: Photo acknowledgement which may be published in local media, website and inbranch Attendance at Annual General Meeting Status report presented to Board of Directors Acknowledgement of Revelstoke Credit Union support on printed or web-based material associated with project FREQUENCY OF REVIEW The Board of Director s criteria for Community Giving will be reviewed on an ongoing basis. The Credit Union seeks to identify and implement best practices with regard to the approval processes for its Community Giving Program. This could include the outsourcing of various steps in the due diligence process. 2
