Judah 1, Inc. Introduction 1 Purpose This training manual has been compiled by Judah 1, Inc. for the use and guidance of designated company employees as they conduct training. 1.1 Introduction This manual is the Judah 1, Inc. approved training manual. Should any conflict arise between portions of this manual and existing FAR's, or an FAA approved Pilot Operating Handbook, the applicable FAR, or Pilot Operating Handbook shall govern the action to be followed. This manual contains five sections and three appendixes. The manual begins with an introduction as Section 1. Sections 2 through 4 present three categories of training. Section 5 contains the subject or training modules referred to in each curriculum. Appendix A contains the ground training curriculum from our FAR Part 142 training provider CAE Simuflight, used with the Permission of AIRCAREFACTS Training. Appendix B presents a list of all company instructors. Appendix C contains copies of all necessary Company training records. 1.2 Numbering of Pages Pages are numbered in sequence. Page numbers are in the bottom center of each page. The Effective Date is in the lower left corner and the revision number in the lower right corner of each page. The name of each curriculum and section where it belongs are at the top of each page. 1.3 General Training Areas and Facilities General training areas for ground instruction will be Company meeting rooms. Training areas and facilities used for individual instruction will be the Company office or other suitable area. Any area selected for training will be free from routine distractions. 1.4 Definitions Categories of Training - A specific division in a curriculum of training. Examples include Initial, Transition, Upgrade, Recurrent, and Requalification, as found in this curriculum. Courseware - Refers to the instructional material developed for each curriculum. This is the information in lesson plans, flight maneuver packages, computer software programs, audiovisual programs, workbooks, textbooks, references, and handouts. Courseware must accurately reflect curriculum requirements, be effectively organized, and properly integrate with instructional delivery methods. Curriculum - A complete training agenda specific to an aircraft type and duty position. Each curriculum consists of several curriculum segments. Judah 1, Inc. Introduction Curriculum Segment - Each curriculum segment represents an area of knowledge. One or more curriculum segments are required to create a curriculum and each curriculum segment consists of one or more subject modules. Duty position - The functional position of a crewmember for part 125 operations. The duty positions included in this manual are Lead Flight Attendant and Flight Attendant. Eligibility Period - The three calendar months (which is the calendar month before the "training/checking month" and the calendar month after), during which a crewmember must receive recurrent training, or a competency check to remain in a qualified status. Training or checking completed during the eligibility period, is considered to be completed during the "training/checking month." Event - A task, maneuver, or procedure which involves physically performing the task, maneuver or procedure. Final Approval - The acceptance by the FAA administrator of the body of documents and procedures proposed by the applicant in pursuit of an operating privilege. Initial Approval - The provisional approval of individual documents or procedures submitted to the FAA FSDO. This approval is subject to, and dependent upon, the Final Approval by the Administrator, of the entire collection of individual items when reviewed as a whole. Initial New Hire Training - This category is for personnel who have had no previous experience with the operator (newly hired personnel). However, it also applies to personnel employed by the operator but who have not previously held a crewmember duty position with that operator. Initial New Hire training includes basic indoctrination and training for a specific duty position and aircraft type. Instructional Delivery Methods - Methodology used to convey information to the student. This may involve lectures, demonstrations, audio-visual presentations, home study assignments, workshops, drills examinations or a combination of these. Recurrent Training - This category of training is for personnel who have been trained and qualified by the operator and will continue to serve in the same duty position and aircraft type and must receive recurring training or checking within an appropriate eligibility period to maintain currency. Requalification Training - This category of training is for personnel who have been trained and qualified by the operator, but have become unqualified to serve in a particular duty position and/or aircraft due to not having received recurrent training and/or a required flight or competency check within the appropriate eligibility period. Judah 1, Inc. Introduction Subject Module - The subject module, by itself or when combined with other subject modules, itemizes the subject matter in a curriculum segment. The subject module is an outline of related material that will be presented in a lesson plan. It is not a lesson plan. The instructor will use the subject module to ensure that all pertinent information is included in the lesson plan. The scope and content of each subject module depends upon the category of training and the curriculum in which the curriculum segment is to be incorporated. A subject module may also be referred to as a "Training Module". They are numbered for identification in Section 9. Training Aids - These are devices which assist an instructor in the teaching-learning process. Training Hours - A training hour is a period of 60 minutes spent in the pursuit of a course of training with respect to ground training, for each 60 minute period, a 5 minute break is permitted. Training Environment - The training environment will be any area where training will take place. This may be a hangar, open field, classroom, meeting room or in the case of a home study program a quiet area of the student's choice. It is not an area associated with the daily operation of the company. Training Program - A standardized course of training concerning a specific topic or area of study, and monitored by an accredited or approved instructor. Testing and Checking - A curriculum segment that includes methods by which students demonstrate the required level of knowledge of a subject and whether they can apply the knowledge and skills learned in instructional situations to practical situations. This curriculum segment also lists the requirements of the FARs that may apply. Written examinations are not included as a part of this manual. The two categories of training contain curriculums for all the Judah 1, Inc. aircraft. These curriculums are listed within the categories. Each curriculum lists relevant curriculum segments. Curriculum segments are composed of subject modules identified by number. Subject modules are not included within a curriculum but are grouped in Section 9. Before beginning any training determine which category of training is required and what prerequisites apply. Then select from the appropriate category the specific curriculum. Each curriculum is different from the others in the same category. Use the table included in this introduction to determine at a glance what curriculum segments are required and record them on the Certificate of Curriculum Completion form. Admission is based on compliance with the experience requirements of FAR 61 and FAR 125. Minimum curriculum admission requirements are listed below. 1.6 Initial New Hire Qualifications Section 2 A Flight Attendant Candidate must be recommended and approved by the Director of Operations or the Chief Pilot. 1.7 Recurrent Section 4 A Flight Attendant must have completed Initial New Hire or Recurrent Training by Judah 1, Inc. within the preceding 12 months. 1.8 Requalification Section 5 A Flight Attendant must have completed Initial New Hire or Recurrent Training by Judah 1, Inc. within the preceding 24 months. 1.9 Company Instructors Judah 1, Inc. designates knowledgeable and experienced company personnel to act as company instructors. These instructors are listed in Appendix C. 1.10 Sequence of Training The sequence of training presented in this manual is at the discretion of the instructors assigned to perform such training. Training begins after the Director of Operations or the Chief Pilot determines that the appropriate prerequisites have been satisfied and proceeds in the sequence presented and explained below. 1. Judah 1, Inc. Introduction 2. Establish that the prerequisites have been satisfied. The prerequisites are listed in this part for each category and curriculum. 3. Find the appropriate curriculum and curriculum segments. Curriculum segments required in each curriculum are identified in this part (IDENTIFICATION OF TRAINING CATEGORIES) Each curriculum segment lists relevant subject modules. Locate these subject modules in the back in Section 6 and present the material listed. Treat each subject module as the subject matter for a lesson plan. 1.11 Modified Training Program A modified training program provides for training flexibility and an opportunity to expedite the training schedule. There are circumstances in which a modified training program is applicable. A Flight Attendant with appropriate previous experience may, in lieu of completing the entire training curriculum, successfully pass a written or oral examination, on curriculum areas, given by an authorized ground instructor as an equivalent of ground training curriculum completion. The minimum hours of training may be reduced due to the previous experience of the individual Flight Attendant. Possession of a training record or statement from an FAR Part 121 operator or a training certificate from a training facility may be substituted for all or part of any Ground Training module. All Flight Attendants will complete the Indoctrination Training, and be familiarized with the aircraft to be used. 1.12 Training Manual Revision Process The latest approved copy of this Training Manual will always be available in the Employee only area of the Judah 1, Inc. web site, www.judah1.com. Training manual revisions will not be issued, nor will hard copies of the manual be routinely distributed. When this manual has been revised and that revision has been approved, a manual revision notice will be distributed to all employees, and the latest manual will become available on the company web site. Individuals possessing a printed copy of this manual will be required to verify the revision level of the manual before each use. It is the responsibility of each employee to discard any printed manual copies that are out of date. 1.13 Training Records and Forms The following are examples of the forms used by Judah 1, Inc. to record the training and qualifications. These forms are: Ground Training Record, Check Record, and Certificate of Curriculum Completion. Complete forms are presented at the end of this section.
