SCHOOL GROUP REGISTRATION INFORMATION Held on Saturday, October 21, 2017, one day prior to the Marine Corps Marathon, this one-mile run located in the Pentagon North parking lot in Arlington, VA, is for children ages 5 to 12. Groups of at least 50 participants may select to run at 9:30 a.m., 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m. 11:20 a.m., or 11:40 a.m. Runners receive a t-shirt, medal, and snacks at the finish line. The MCM Kids Run also features Camp Miles, a free activity area with interactive health and fitness exhibits, games, and giveaways. Group registration allows one person to coordinate the participation of a large, organized group of children. School groups have the opportunity to compete for the five Healthy School Awards, consisting of a generous grant from Sodexo. Wave Start The MCM Kids Run will be held over six waves (9:30 a.m., 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 11:20 a.m., and 11:40 a.m.). Group registration allows one person to coordinate the participation of a large, organized group of children in a single wave. Packet Pick-up MCM Kids Run participants will be required to obtain their t-shirt and bib prior to the event. Registered groups have the opportunity to pick up event materials for all runners in the group at one time. If group payment is received by October 6, shipping of materials to the group coordinator is guaranteed. Group pick up or shipment must be arranged with Sandra at 703.784.2357 or sandra.osborn-peters@usmc-mccs.org at time of payment. Course and Start Course maps are available at www.marinemarathon.com. Children should report to the starting area in the Pentagon North parking lot at least 30 minutes prior to their wave time. Finish and Link-up For the safety of all runners, access to the MCM Kids Run course is restricted to participants only, MCM staff, and uniformed Marines. After crossing the finish, children will receive their medal and post-event snacks. They will then be escorted to the link-up area. Parents or group leaders may enter the finish tent to locate their children. The Kid Claim Coupon will be required for children to be released from the corrals. For group link-ups, the group coordinator will receive a list of runners in numerical order by bib number and full name, provided by the Marine Corps Marathon. Camp Miles Parents, families, and runners are invited to visit Camp Miles, a free all-day activity area featuring interactive challenges and games focusing on health and fitness. Camp Miles activities begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 1 p.m. Transportation and Parking The Pentagon Metro Station provides the easiest access to the MCM Kids Run. Shuttle services are available from the Pentagon Metro Station to the Kids Run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Parking is available at the Hayes Street parking lot located at the intersection of Joyce Street and Army/ Navy Drive in front of Macy s. Shuttle services are available from the Hayes Street parking lot to the MCM Kids Run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Bus parking is available at the Pentagon North parking lot. Attendees must have a parking pass to enter the Pentagon North parking lot by vehicle. Parking passes must be requested from Sandra by October 6. Healthy School Award The top five schools with the largest student participation in the MCM Kids Run will be recognized with this annual award. This honor is reserved exclusively for school groups and includes a snacks for every student as well as a generous donation from MCM partner Sodexo. Ship-to-School Incentive All group organizers who meet published deadlines have the opportunity to have all materials shipped direct to schools. Liability and Public Release Form Participant Information Liability and Publicity Release Page 1 (Must Be Signed): * Liability & Publicity Release MARINE CORPS MARATHON LIABILITY AND PUBLICITY RELEASE For considering my entry s acceptance in the MCM Kids Run, I the undersigned, intending to be legally bound, waive and release for myself, my heirs, executor and administrators, any and all rights and claims for damages, demands and any other actions, which I may have against the US Marine Corps, US Government, National Park Service, volunteer medical support, all participating supporting agencies and those entities representatives, successors and assignees, from my participation in the event, including any and all injuries suffered by me because of my participation in this event. I verify I have full knowledge of the rigors of this race and the risk involved in participation, including but not limited to trip and fall, loss of orientation, exhaustion, dehydration, hyponatremia, fatigue, over-exertion, sun or heat stroke, cold injuries, hypothermia, and any other injuries related to running and/or endurance events. I assert that I am physically fit and have sufficiently trained to complete this event. I realize medical support for this event will consist of primarily of volunteer medical personnel prepared to administer first-aid type assistance along the race course and the finish line. I hereby grant permission to the Marine Corps Marathon and its sponsors to use all information submitted in my application, and any photograph, videotape, motion pictures, recording and any other record of this event including race results, my likeness, name and completion time for any lawful purpose related to the race and post-race publicity. The United States Government has requested that I grant, release, and discharge certain rights arising from my appearance, or the appearance of an infant or minor child for whom I execute custody, in any picture, video, advertisement, or other recording or presentation as a result of my participation in the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM), Marine Corps Historic Half, MCM Event Series and other related events. I hereby grant and release to the United States Government the right to use my name, likeness, and personal information, or that of said infant or minor child, in any manner, and to photograph, videotape, make motion pictures, recordings or any other record o; to reproduce, duplicate, publish, exhibit, use or transmit the same or any parts thereof, by any means, in any manner and for any purpose whatsoever; and to do the same perpetually. This voluntary grant and release will not be made the basis of a future claim of any kind against the United States Government. I release and discharge the United States Government from any cause of action arising from my participation or the participation of the infant or minor child in the production. This grant, release, and discharge shall inure to the benefit of the United States Government, and its officers, agents, servants, and employees when acting in their official capacities; and to persons, firms or corporations contracting with the United States Government and state and local government entities supporting these events, and their heirs, executors, administrators, successors, or assigns; and to any other persons lawfully reproducing, distributing, exhibiting, or otherwise using the said production or any portion thereof. Runner data may be used to offer a limited number of race enhancements. The Race Director reserves the right to reject any entry. No unauthorized bicycles or roller skates are permitted during the race; headphones and other similar devices are not advised. Athlete acknowledges that the entry fee paid is non-refundable. Athlete acknowledges and agrees that the Marine Corps Marathon in its sole discretion may delay or cancel the event if it believes the conditions on race day are unsafe. In the event the Event is delayed or cancelled for any reason, including but not limited to: fire, threatened or actual strike, labor difficulty, work stoppage, insurrection, war, public disaster, flood, unavoidable casualty, acts of God or the elements, or any other cause beyond the control of the Marine Corps Marathon there shall be no refund of the entry fee or any other costs of Athlete in connection with the Event. The primary user of the collected information is the Marine Corps Marathon Office. The collected information will be used to provide a record of all runners and volunteer participants in the annual Marine Corps Marathon and other related events for use in organizing the event, communication with the runners and volunteers before, during, and after the event, as well as emergency contact and establishing volunteer agreements for Nonappropriated Fund Instrumentalities (NAFI). Provision of the requested information is voluntary. Failure to provide the information, however, may result in ineligibility to participate in the race. CHECK LIST Distribute MCM Kids Run information to students. Collect group registration forms and payment from students. First Deadline, September 8: Send MCM the # of bibs required for the MCM Kids Run (minimum 50), two preferred wave times, and W-9 tax exempt form. Receive link and password for online registration from Sandra by September 11 if W-9 has been received. Links will not be sent without W-9 form received. Second Deadline, October 4: All MCM Kids Run group participants must be entered in the system via the provided link. No extensions. No exceptions. Links will close 5 p.m. EDT. After this time, any additional children wishing to run with your group must sign up online via the MCM website and must pick up their own materials at Packet Pick-up event weekend. Third Deadline, October 5: Receive and verify list of children entered in database. Ensure invoice is accurate by October 5 to secure guaranteed shipment of event materials. Check payments due today. Fourth Deadline, October 6: Verified participant list, t-shirt form, bus parking pass request, and bulk payment of $8 per entry due to MCM. Checks should be made payable to Marine Corps Marathon. Contact the MCM to pay by credit card. If you would like participant event materials shipped to your school, contact Sandra no later than October 6 with your request. Group Packet Pick up will be available at MCM headquarters building at Quantico, Va. on October 9 13. After this time, all materials must be picked up at the MCM Kids Run in the Info Tent.
