Directions for Applying Please review the forms provided in this scholarship packet. Enclosed you will find the scholarship application, teacher recommendation form, required essay questions, and the scholarship eligibility criteria. These scholarships require you to provide a scholarship resume, obtain two teacher recommendations, and answer the two essay questions. Attach all required documents to the completed application. Again, be sure to write the name and address of the high school you attend in the space provided. Essay Questions -Answer the following two essay questions. Use 12 font, single space your response, and use a 1.5 margin, top and bottom, left and right. Please limit your answer to one page per question. -What are your plans for the future, and how will this scholarship assist you in achieving your goals? -Discuss a significant experience or achievement that has influenced your life. Scholarship and Eligibility Requirements 1. Have a parent who is employed or has retired from a law enforcement agency within Skagit County. 2. This scholarship may be used at any accredited vocational-technical school, community college, four year college or university. 3. Eligibility for this scholarship is based upon residency and not the high school of record. In other words, high school seniors who are full time residents of Skagit County may apply, regardless of where they attend high school. 4. Applications and essays must be completed by the student, not parents. 5. Applicants must submit at least two teacher recommendations. Recommendations may not be submitted by family members. 6. A complete application packet will include the scholarship application form, applicant s scholarship resume, official transcript, two teacher recommendation and the student essay questions. One form has been provided for you. Feel free to make as many additional copies as needed. 7. This scholarship is based on financial need, academic record, character and probability of success. 8. To be eligible, have a parent who is employed or has retired from a law enforcement agency within Skagit County. 2. An applicant must include at least two teacher recommendations. Recommendations may not be submitted by family members. 3. A complete application packet will include the common scholarship application form, official transcript, the applicant s resume, two teacher recommendations and a student essay (see below). 4. This scholarship is based on financial need, academic record, character and probability of success. The $1500 scholarships will be paid directly to the recipient s school of choice. 5. Recipients must: maintain a 3.0 unweighted GPA, be enrolled as a full-time student and be of good character. 7
