Dear Fratres and Friends: The Sigma Alpha Mu Foundation, the charitable and educational wing of our Fraternity, was chartered in 1944. In 1979, in preparation for the celebration of the Fraternity s seventy-fifth anniversary, Bill Schwartz and Larry Schaffer undertook a concerted effort to increase the Foundation s endowment in order to allow the Foundation to award more scholarships. The success of that project and others that followed, quite evident from the donations from many fratres over the past 34 years, allowed the Foundation to award a total of $192,000 in scholarships this past academic year. This amount was an increase of almost $20,000 from the previous year (which was then an all-time high). These awards included 65 Sid Guller Young Scholars and 143 endowed scholarships, aiding fratres from 44 chapters. Noteworthy is that nine of these scholarships, totaling $10,000, were for the daughters of fratres and other students, including USY (United Synagogue Youth) and NFTY (North American Federation of Temple Youth). On a per chapter basis, our fraternity awards more scholarship dollars than any other fraternity, a fact in which I take great pride. It is truly the ultimate example of our fraternity s ideals in action. In their letters, AM Foundation scholarship recipients have shared meaningful experiences your gifts have supported. One frater -- a business and accounting major -- wrote about his several activities on- and off-campus, helping to create stronger programs benefiting youth in his area. Another, who is majoring in cognitive psychology, shared stories about the importance of Jewish education as a guiding force in his life. A third wrote, I believe that it is a fantastic thing that you have generously donated your hard-earned money to financially aid students, such as me,...so that I can focus on my academics and one day have the opportunity to endow a scholarship of my own. Your continued gifts to the AM Foundation for scholarships and leadership education help enrich the academic and community experiences of our fratres, now and for all time. Thank you for all you do and will do! Fraternally & Sincerely, Jerry Miller Director, Sigma Alpha Mu Foundation and Chair, Sigma Alpha Mu Foundation Scholarship Committee Chapter and Faculty Advisor, Mu Psi Chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu President, 206 Mu Psi Corp Professor Emeritus, Economics, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio 2

We awarded a total of $192,500 up from our previous all-time high of $172,300 These included: in 2011-2012. 65 Guller Young Scholars and 143 endowed scholarships aiding fratres at 44 chapters. 3 I am a part of the Sigma Zeta Chapter at Indiana University. The fraternity has provided me with memories and friendships that will last forever. This past semester I studied abroad in Prague, Czech Republic and was able to travel with other Sammy members to a variety of cities within Europe. I want to thank you for you generosity and assure you that this scholarship will be put to good use. Adam Nussbaum Ronald Shlensky Memorial Scholarship Sigma Zeta, Chapter at Indiana University

Rice Scholarship. It truly is an honor. As a member of the Rho Chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu, I made it a personal goal to gain leadership roles. I was heavily involved in the Illini Summer Opportunity Organization. With ISOO we raise money for underprivileged children in the Champaign-Urbana communities to send them to summer camp. My involvement and desire to participate led to me being appointed philanthropy chair for our Rho Chapter, a title that I am extremely excited about for the next semester. I would like to thank you once again and extend my utmost gratitude. Daniel Kogan David S. Rice Scholarship Rho Chapter, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

I believe that it is a fantastic thing that you have generously donated your hard earned money to financially aid students, such as me, in a time of need so that I can focus on my academics and one day have the opportunity to endow a scholarship of my own. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for this award, my appreciation is immense. Fast and firm, brother. Gamma Kappa/Texas A&M Scholarship Recipient 16
