What is Community Involvement? A graduation requirement 40 hours of activities Volunteer activity not for pay or credit 2

Why has the Ministry mandated it? reinforces civic responsibility strengthens the community enhances selfconfidence increases networking helps in building a career & academic portfolio 3

When must students complete it? Any time during high school: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to complete 40 hours BEFORE Grade 11. Cannot be completed during regular class hours 4

What should I do when I complete my hours? Bring your completed Community Involvement form to Guidance. Guidance will take it from there! 29

WHEN SHOULD I COMPLETE MY HOURS? HIGHLY RECOMMEND HAVING 40 HOURS COMPLETED BY THE END OF GRADE 10 In Grade 11 and 12 you will be busy enough with other things! 30

Community Involvement Guidance will ONLY record the first 40 hours All students are encouraged to continue their involvement in community activities once their initial 40 hours are completed Guidance recommends students track their own additional hours to be used for future job applications and scholarship opportunities Only one form is required if the activity takes place over several weeks or months 31
