SUMMARY General objectives The longer aim of this project is to improve the knowledge base of public mental health in a way that is useful for monitoring health policy reforms in Europe. Strategic relevance and contribution to the public health programme To provide comparable information on the burden, distribution and determinants of mental disorders. Methods and means By analysing, interpreting and synthesizing the data collected in the World Mental Health ( surveys initiative in 12 countries, the project will produce new, representative and focussed information knowledge on key public mental health issues such as the burden of mental disorders and their distribution across relevant population groups. Expected outcomes period Results will translate into baseline indicators useful for elaborating, monitoring and evaluating public health policy reforms in the EU. Active dissemination among scientists and stakeholders will contribute to evidence-based mental health policies and mental health awareness. It will stimulate comparability and monitoring of mental health in Europe in the future. Page 3/8
