Possible events: working group meetings, seminars, workshops, symposia, conferences summer schools, specialised courses,... Eligibility: applicants must be PLs or PIs. APs can be co-applicants. Beneficiaries can be: PLs, PIs, Project Members (PhD students, post-doc researchers, senior scientists, etc.) participating within an Individual Project. NB: APs and external invited experts are self-funded. Networking support can be granted to a limited number of these groups upon clear justification. Location: normally in one of the countries with a fully participating IP. Exceptions by decision & justification by SC. Co-sponsorship: co-sponsorship is encouraged; prior approval of sponsors by ESF Programme Coordinator necessary 24
Networking rules / procedure Procedure similar to all types of activities! Procedure: written guidelines exist for all types of activities. Proposal: applicants submit a short proposal for the activity. Application: on-line at least three months in advance through a link provided either on the programme website or by the ESF Office. Approval: the proposal is forwarded to SC for approval via consensus (NB: PLs who are proposers/co-organisers are excluded form the approval). Money: after approval, 80% of the requested amount are transferred. Reporting: report on the event must be provided to SC within two months after the event. Dissemination rules Procedure: written guidelines exist for all types of activities. Eligible events: invited sessions at conferences; workgroup meetings for publications (submitted online) Other eligible items: Publications: special issues, papers in payable journals, books, leaflets, posters, etc. (submitted offline); Dissemination travel grants to conferences outside EUROCORES while promoting EUROCORES, e.g., invited sessions (submitted offline); Other: to be discussed with the ESF Coordinator. Eligibility: applicants must be PLs or PIs. Beneficiaries can be: PLs, PIs, Project Members (PhD students, post-doc researchers, senior scientists, etc.) participating within an Individual Project. Co-sponsorship: co-sponsorship is encouraged; prior approval of sponsors by ESF Programme Coordinator necessary. Reporting and money flow: similar to networking 26
Short-term visit rules Short-Term Visits : Visits to another CRP within the same or different EUROCORE for up to a maximum of 6 weeks. Reporting (forms in process of changing) Two reports: mid-term & final Purpose: to assess scientific cooperation and the interactions among the investigators, as well as merits and potential of the programme. Deadline: within 2 months after mid-term and end of the programme Report: new forms in preparation, but generally criteria as for the selection of outline proposals: Novelty/Originality: most innovative/original scientific contribution of each CRP; Multidisciplinarity: how is each CRP working towards (or achieving) multidisciplinary research; Collaborative Research: results of CRP that would not have been achieved (or would have taken longer to achieve) in an individual project; European-added value: European dimension given to National funding (e.g: building up ERA; developing critical mass of expertise; addressing issues of scale and scope). For CRPs involving partners outside Europe illustrate their added value to the programme and contribution to the field of research in Europe; Relevance to the Call: achievements most relevant to the Call. Assessment: by Review Panel; reports sent also to EFAs 30
