Anesthesia residents may attend free of charge; however, registration is required. This fee includes conference materials, continental breakfast, break refreshments, and lunch. Indiana Society of Anesthesiologists 2017 Distinguished Service Award Dean L. Strycker, M.D. Presented February 17, 2018 The Distinguished Service Award (DSA) is the highest honor bestowed by the Indiana Society of Anesthesiologists (ISA). The award is given following submission of a nomination packet, evaluation and recommendation of a committee of senior ISA members including previous ISA Presidents and DSA award recipients and a vote of the ISA Board. The award is given to an ISA member and recognizes outstanding achievement, contributions to the specialty and/or exemplary service to the ISA. Dean L. Strycker, M.D. is the recipient of the 2017 ISA Distinguished Service Award, which will be presented at the 2018 ISA Annual Meeting. Dr. Strycker completed his medical degree and anesthesiology residency at Indiana University. Following two years of military service, he practiced anesthesiology for thirty-three years in South Bend and Mishawaka communities, retiring in 2005. He served as President of the ISA from 1982 1984. In his career in the South Bend community, he served as Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology, a term as President of the South Bend Memorial Hospital Medical Staff and as Chairman of the hospital. He was also active in the South Bend Community serving on symphony, library, arts, church and health care boards. He is a poet and has commissioned several musical works. He and his wife now reside in Arizona. The ISA is pleased to recognize Dean L. Strycker, M.D. as the recipient of the 2017 Indiana Society of Anesthesiologists Distinguished Service Award.
