Now in our tenth year, the BCSAA will award three (3) $1,000.00 scholarships to senior students who will be pursuing a career in education. BCSAA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM SELECTION CRITERIA: 1. Scholarship applicants must be a senior in a Bucks County public high school graduating in 2013 and planning to attend a 4-year college. Also, students must be formally accepted into a college or university and pursuing a career in education. 2. All applications must be submitted by Friday, April 12, 2013 with all supporting documentation under one cover. 3. Finalists will be selected by evaluating the materials submitted using the rubric below and will be required to present themselves for an interview with the Scholarship Awarding Committee on Saturday, May 4, 2013 between 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED: Completed application. Resume. Essay (150-300 words, double spaced) outlining why the candidate has selected a career in education and what specific influences and/or experiences have motivated them to pursue this career path. Two + letter(s) of recommendation: 1. Teacher or counselor, and 2. One or more from someone outside of the family or school, supporting your pursuit of a career in education. Transcript of grades and attendance records for 9 th, 10 th, 11 th and 12 th grade Rubric 15% Coursework: Degree of Difficulty (Mix of Academic, Honors and AP Courses taken) 15% Grade Profile: Overall letter grade average (Academic Performance) 15% Letters of Recommendation (Do they soundly support student's pursuit of an education career.) 15% Application/Resume Presentation (Rated in regards to neatness, completeness, spelling and overall presentation.) 20% Student Essay (Approximately 150-300 words emphasizing reasons for career path, focus, content, organization and grammar.)
