Race/Ethnicity and Tribal Affiliation Data in the ICDB Race/ethnicity and some tribal affiliation information is derived from eligibility, case management and payment data systems (approx. 25) Automated Client Eligibility System (ACES) is the data system that contributes the largest volume of information Race/ethnicity information is most often self reported We bring together information from all available data sources for an individual, treating each source equally Source data systems use different race values and categories. We crosswalk definitions to U.S. Census categories By bringing together race/ethnicity data from many different data systems, we often identify a larger AI/AN population than would be identified using any singe source and Enterprise Support Administration Research and Data Analysis Division NOVEMBER 2016 4

Examples of Analyses Using the ICDB Prevalence of need for behavioral health services by race/ethnicity and region Relative utilization of Medicaid-paid behavioral health services by race/ethnicity and region RSN/BHO mental health (MH) and substance use disorder (SUD) services HCA MCO (and full integrated MCO) medical, MH and SUD services Tribal clinic payments processed through the ProviderOne payment system Example: 2SSB 5732 Tribal Centric Behavioral Health Report to the Legislature Outcomes by race/ethnicity and region Medicaid-paid health service utilization (hospitalization, ED utilization) Social services utilization Other outcomes including employment, housing stability, and criminal justice involvement and Enterprise Support Administration Research and Data Analysis Division NOVEMBER 2016 5
