Student Spotlight PJAS What an exciting event our 8 Middle School Science Students participated in on Monday May 16th at Penn State University. Our students participated in the Pennsylvania Junior academy of Science tournament. They competed with hundreds of students their age from all over the state of Pennsylvania. Our students were so very polished and poised as they brought their BEST efforts to defend their investigations in front of a panel of judges. Here are the results: Adrianna Rossetti: 2nd Place: Microbiology Julia Matschener: 2nd Place: Chemistry Gillian Mulchay: 2nd Place: Environmental Science Josh Maltese: 2nd Place: Ecology Olivia Schoppen: 1st Place: Biology Emma Holtz: 1st Place: Biochemistry Sarah Watson: 1st Place: Biology Emily Mullen: 1st Place PERFECT SCORE: Biology. To achieve a perfect score, Emily's judges gave her the highest scores for each judging category. This gave her a Perfect score of 5.0. This is a very special and a rare achievement. Congratulations to all of the participants! We are again, St. Mary's Proud!! May 20, 2016 Page 3 of 20
