Page 6 of 11 STAFF REPORT TO THE LENNOX & ADDINGTON COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COALITION From: Re: Stephen Paul, Director, Community and Development Services E-Commerce Solution EODP Application Date: April 6, 2016 At the November Economic Development Coalition meeting a discussion was held regarding an e-commerce solution for Lennox and Addington County businesses. Since that time, the Economic Development Office has been in conversation with multiple funding agencies to determine the best fit for the proposed project. Discussions with PELA CFDC have resulted in significant interest in the project and they have asked for an application to be submitted to the Eastern Ontario Development Program (EODP). The following is an overview of the project to be submitted to EODP: Lennox and Addington County will contract a Shopify consultant to provide a minimum of two workshops for local businesses. The workshops will be a full day training session. Each participating business will leave the workshop with a fully functioning e-commerce solution. Lennox and Addington will work with the Shopify consultant to schedule follow up visits to the participating businesses. The visits will assist with any maintenance requirements and will answer questions about their Shopify site. Lennox and Addington will build a micro website that will promote businesses in Lennox and Addington that are selling online. This will help to drive new out of market sales. The application will be submitted by the end of April and if successful the hope is to launch the workshops in June. It is expected that the total project price will be $15,000. APPROVED FOR SUBMISSION
