WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Transcription:

In the coming months, a NEW North Kansas City High School will begin to emerge. You will see parts of the building come down, beautiful new pieces go up and a renovation of Old Main, the heart of NKCHS. In an effort to keep NKC residents, staff, parents and students up to date with all things Northtown, we plan to publish a short bi-weekly newsletter. We want you to be part of the Northtown renaissance, so please feel free to share this with friends and neighbors, and let us know if you have any questions or need further information! Just contact Tammy.Henderson@nkcschools.org or call 816-321-5000. CONSTRUCTION ZONE: MARCH 30-APRIL 15, 2018 Construction is definitely dependent on weather! Progress continues on the new Northtown, but forward motion would most assuredly be swifter if we could get some warm spring days instead of this damp coldness we are currently experiencing. Both Buildings B and C now have walls and roofs. Windows are being installed in the classroom View of southeast corner of new cafeteria. wing, Building B. Interior framing of walls is complete in the classroom wing and sheetrocking is underway. The giant windows in the cafeteria wing are being framed in. The gym floor has been poured in Building C. The heating and cooling units have been installed on the roofs of both Buildings B and C.

The most notable change is the removal of the construction trailer that had been located on the far north end of the project. This area will be cleaned up and readied for a parking lot of about 27 spots and landscaping! The classroom wing (Building B) and the new fieldhouse and cafeteria (Building C) will open for the 2018 19 school year. The current fieldhouse will come down this summer to make way for the new Fine Arts wing and auditorium. Once the new auditorium is in place, work on Old Main will begin. The Fine Arts Wing and Old Main renovations will be completed during 2019. As always, thanks to all NKCHS neighbors for your patience and consideration. Together we are making a difference for generations of Hornets to come! New gym floor! Looking at Building B from Building C. JOIN US FOR A FINAL SOCKHOP IN THE FIELDHOUSE IN APRIL Join your neighbors, fellow graduates and other members of our North Kansas City Schools community as we put our dancing shoes on for our annual Tea Dance on Sunday afternoon, April 22 beginning at 2 p.m. To celebrate the great history of the NKCHS Fieldhouse, this year s Tea Dance is also a Sock Hop and we hope alumni from across our school district will join in the fun. Students from all four NKC Schools high schools will be on-hand as dance partners, so come one, come all. The culinary classes will have special treats to serve and best part is this is all FREE OF CHARGE! See you in the gym on April 22! NKC SCHOOLS ANNUAL TEA DANCE/SOCK HOP Sunday, April 22, 2018 North Kansas City High School Fieldhouse 2 4 p.m. FINAL BOW TO THE AUDITORIUM Although the new auditorium will not be done until next year, the theatre department has planned a special evening on Friday, April 27 immediately following the performance of Peter and the Starcatcher. All theatre alums will be invited to join in a group sing of What I did for Love from A Chorus Line and take backstage tours one last time. Refreshments will also be served. Hope you can join us!
