Committees All Committees are comprised of member volunteers. We encourage you or one of your staff to join a committee that is of interest to your organization. Ambassador Committee Serves as the Public Relations Arm of the Chamber. Promotes services and interacts with members so the Chamber can better identify and serve membership needs. Advocacy Monitors legislative activity at all levels. Develops and maintains relationships with area elected officials and the Chamber legislative agenda. Direct Benefits Business Advocacy: The Chamber is an organized voice of business for Galesburg. We look for potential opportunities and challenges for our area and work with our members to continue making this the best possible place to live and work. Referrals: Chamber staff provides member information to hundreds of inquiries received by our office each year via mail, phone and e-mail requests. Members are given priority as business leads. Chamber Website: All Chamber members are listed on the Chamber s website, www.galesburg.org. The site is updated and maintained by Chamber staff. Listings in the Chamber Member y are by category and alphabetical. Ribbon Cuttings: Performed for members to recognize a new business or location or remodel/rebuild or a special anniversary (e.g. 10 th anniversary, etc.). Scissors, ribbon and staff person to take photos for the newsletter are provided free of charge. Mailing Labels: Members interested in their own direct mail advertising may purchase a set of membership mailing labels. Meeting Rooms: Two meeting rooms available to members based on availability. Bulk Mailing Permit: Members may use the Chamber s bulk permit, saving them the annual permit fee. Check with the Chamber office on cost and regulations. Business Seminars: Throughout the year, learning opportunities are provided for our members. Topics vary and have included legislative updates, customer service, e-commerce and business education seminars. Tax Deductibility: Membership is 100% tax deductible as a necessary business expense, not as a charitable donation. Networking Opportunities Annual Meeting: The Chamber hosts this special banquet, featuring notable speakers and a silent auction. Business after Hours: An evening networking opportunity to have members visit the sponsor s place of business, showcasing their location and products or services. It is also an opportunity for the sponsor to tell members about the business. Sponsor fee $200. Golf Tournament: Members can participate in this annual tournament held at Lake Bracken Country Club or associates may come to network during dinner. Hole Sponsorship $100. Seminars & Workshops: Held periodically to feature educational opportunities & legislator updates to the business community. Thanksgiving Luncheon: An annual event held to honor someone with the Thomas B. Herring award for his or her exemplary community service the past year. Sponsorship opportunities available. Committees & Task Forces: An opportunity to take part in one of our active committees that work on issues relative to the business community. Marketing Opportunities Newsletter The Express Track: Monthly publication highlighting our events, new members, ribbon cuttings, Toot Your Own Horn member announcements or recognitions. E-mail Blast: One sent per day to our e-mail list. Each member may use this marketing tool for a promotion or announcement once per month for a fee of $20 per occurrence. MEMBERSHIP INVESTMENT SCHEDULE The Membership Investment Schedule shown below was developed in an effort to identify factors that reflect the ability of each category of business to share in the financial requirements of the Chamber. The Chamber's financial operation is based upon a calendar fiscal year. Invoices for membership investment are usually mailed in December of the preceding year to give members the ability to plan their expenditures. Dues are deductible as a necessary business expense. Membership categories and the Investment Schedule are as follows (Employee calculations based on full time equivalent; e.g. all employees work a total of 200 hours per week, divide by 40 hours equals 5 full time) : Banks & Financial Institutions: $25 per million dollars of deposits ($260 minimum) Includes commercial and savings banks, savings and loan associations, and credit unions Professional Organizations: $260 for first licensee plus $50 each for the next five and $25 each thereafter. Provide the services of a professional person, generally licensed, including, but not limited to: physicians, physical therapists, dentists, chiropractors, optometrists, veterinarians, attorneys, real estate and insurance companies, financial planners, stock brokers, and the like. Retailers: $260 for 1-10 employees plus $2.00 per additional employee (full time equivalents) Sell or distribute a product, includes restaurants and wholesalers Manufacturers: $260 for the first employee plus $2.00 per additional employee (full time equivalents) Manufacture or process a product, includes printers Service, other: $260 for 1-10 employees plus $2.00 per additional employee (full time equivalents) Provide a service, includes copy centers, or does not fall within another category Entrepreneur: $160 the first year only for a new small business New small business, excludes a franchise or chain, established within the past 12 months. Your company will be placed in the appropriate category at the beginning of the second year. Not-For-Profit Organizations: $160 (10 or less employees; more than 10 enroll under appropriate category) Reserved for non-profit organizations such as churches, civic and fraternal organizations. Individuals: $100 Must be either a retired person or employed by a business that is a member or work as a single independent contractor or not be currently employed.
