Participation in Activities and Events or Programs Sponsored By Educational Institutions Relating To Career Opportunities in Broadcasting On October 24, 2007 KFDA-TV participated in the Teacher s and Students Touring Business Day sponsored by AISD and the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce. Brent McClure, VP/General Manager, hosted 30 eighth grade students and gave them a tour of the station. Students were given the opportunity to talk with employees about education and job expectations. Internship Program KFDA-TV/DT, KTMO-LP, K41CA, Kress, Texas; K63GN, Bovina, Texas; K24DP, San Jon, New Mexico; K26CD, Clovis, New Mexico; and K67CS, Dora, New Mexico correspond with area schools to provide internship opportunities to their students for college credit. The station works closely with the schools and its students in order to meet curriculum requirements and to ensure that the students get a complete view of how the broadcasting industry works, as well as real-world, hands-on experience in their specific area of study. Students may request internships in all of our areas including: news, sales, creative services, engineering, and production. Speaking Engagements On December 5, 2007 Brent McClure, VP/General Manager, participated in a panel for the Amarillo s Women s Network and Amarillo/Canyon Rotary Clubs Mentoring Program, which targets high school students. The panel consisted of five employers representing the education and communication fields and spoke in two sessions to a combined crowd of 35 students.
