The chairs and co-chairs had viewed a video on the December 3 rd New York Summit featuring CDC Director Dr. Thomas Frieden. They also discussed the Health Impact Pyramid and how it seeks to influence health behaviors as well as different types of public health interventions. Changing the Context to Encourage Healthy Decisions is the second tier of the pyramid. It represents interventions that change the environmental context to make healthy options. Changing the environmental context so that individuals can take healthy actions AL will send the video and articles to members. It will also be shared via Facebook. 1

The main goal is to challenge residents, students, business owners, officials, and anyone else interested to either: improve public spaces or create new ones. Presentation Working Group Community Transformation Grant Presentation working group has not been active recently, however in the past the committee presentation working group had engaged over 100 organization creating awareness of health in all policies through a 3 prong message. A new presentation is needed. The committee will come together to discuss what messages would be most impactful to the committee and community. I was estimated to take over 100 hrs to re-do the current presentation. In the past the presentation would be handled by two members of the committee: one focusing on HBE the other on just health. Suggestions: The committee should engage those designing the environment - planners, architects, engineers, developers. It is wise to target organizations such as league of cities and the VA. Top down approach - target 3 presentations for 2014 Speak about the fiscal gain of health in all policies Recruit experts (champions) to present or approve Cleo institute has a training available. Engaging pre-professionals - make this interdisciplinary Health Foundation of South Florida s Healthy Community Partnerships Initiative two communities - narrowed down from 11 communities. Grant allocates up to $625,000 per year for six years for grant making and program implementation in Little Havana and Miami Gardens The lead agency for Healthy Community Partnerships in Little Havana is ConnectFamilias Action item DH will have upcoming presentation working group dates available and send invites to members. Action item AG will send the presentation to AL to send to members to view before the next committee meeting. 4
