HLT64115 - Advanced Diploma of Nursing Course Description This nationally accredited qualification reflects the role of enrolled nurses with advanced skills who work in a specialised area of nursing practice. At this level, enrolled nurses integrate and adapt specialised, technical and theoretical knowledge to address a diverse range of clinical situations and challenges in their area of specialisation. They contribute to the continuous improvement of clinical practice using research and participation in broader organisational quality practices. ANMEC offers an Acute Care stream Advanced Diploma of Nursing: Entry Requirements Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who are currently working in Australia as an enrolled nurse in an appropriate clinical setting and hold current registration as an enrolled nurse without notation with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Additional entry requirements will apply due to the clinical workplace assessment components. Further information regarding these requirements is listed below in the section Performance Requirements for Entry. Performance requirements for entry In understanding your eligibility to enrol into the acute care Advanced Diploma, there are specific performance and practice requirements to be met. Please review your exposure to the clinical workplace performance requirements as listed below to assist understanding of your ability to complete the course. Participants wishing to enrol in the Acute care stream must be able to perform the HLTENN007 Administer and monitor medicines and intravenous therapy by calculating medications with 100% accuracy and use the Rights of Medication to administer medication to at least 3 people in the workplace, and which must include the following routes: oral sub-cutaneous injection calculated medications with 100% accuracy and used the Rights of Medication to administer medication in the workplace or in a simulation environment to at least 2 people, and which must include the following routes: intramuscular injections peripheral IV injection safely prepared equipment for IV therapy and blood and blood products administration, and monitored IV therapy and blood and blood products administration in the workplace to at least 2 people including assessing cannula site. Participants wishing to enrol in the Acute care stream must be able to perform the HLTENN023 Apply nursing practice in the respiratory care setting, on no fewer than 3 people in a respiratory care setting in the workplace: care of an arterial line positive airway pressure (CPAP) and bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP) care of permanent and temporary mechanical ventilation including suctioning and bagging tracheal suction via an endotracheal tube (ETT) assisted with the insertion or removal of pleural and intercostal drains administered oxygen based on interpretation of oximetry readings or blood gas analysis in consultation with registered nurse Continued
Participants wishing to enrol in the Acute care stream must be able to perform the HLTENN024 Apply nursing practice in the cardiovascular care setting, on no fewer than 3 people with a cardiovascular condition in the workplace: performed the following nursing care interventions on no fewer than 3 people with a cardiovascular condition in the workplace: administration of (non-invasive) continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP) peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC)/midline management monitoring of electrocardiograph readings for abnormalities under water seal drain management Participants must be able to perform the following nursing care interventions for successful completion of the unit HLTHPS009 Perform peripheral intravenous cannulation Prepared equipment and performed peripheral intravenous cannulation for: 3 different clients according to manufacturer s instructions and organisation procedures monitored 1 in-situ peripheral intravenous cannula, documenting assessment of the patency of the cannula and condition of the site safely removed 1 peripheral intravenous cannula from a client in accordance with organisation procedures
