Comic Relief continues to accept proposals from not-for-profit organisations to support projects that are using sport to improve the lives of children and young people (up to 25 years) who are homeless or living in temporary accommodation to gain skills to lead safe and positive lives. Grants of between 100,000 and 500,000 are available to cover a period of between two and four years. Projects should take a creative approach, use sport as a tool for social change in their approach and contribute to at least one of the following outcomes: Children and young people increase and/or sustain their engagement with education. Children and young people have increased pathways into training or employment. More children and young people have a safe and supportive network or trusted place to go for advice. Page 2 of 10

Children and young people increase life skills, for example money management, daily living skills, legal rights, problem solving, creative thinking, communication, interpersonal relationships, mindfulness, assertiveness, empathy, coping with stress, trauma and loss, resilience. Demonstrate wider social outcomes and not just focus on increasing participation in sport for the physical health benefits. This funding initiative will focus on meeting the needs of women who are at risk or experiencing violence and who have multiple and complex needs, such as poor mental health, substance misuse, those who are homeless, or from less well-served communities or groups such as BAMER (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee) and LBTI (Lesbian, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex) communities, or women who are older and/or disabled. Not-for-profit women s organisations based and operating within the UK can apply. The funding can be used for core and/or project costs. However to be eligible, proposals must be exclusively focused on women with multiple and complex needs and aims to: Enable organisations to better support women within the target groups. Showcase how women s lived experience can inform the design and delivery of services, practice and policy. Provide opportunities for projects to try out new ways and models of working, for example by acting earlier, building community assets or using digital Page 4 of 10

approaches. Enable cross sector partnerships to work together to provide high quality support. Support approaches that can provide learning for other organisations and stakeholders across the sector. Link: https://www.comicrelief.com/funding National Churches Trust s Community Grants Accepting Applications Funding for projects which introduce facilities to enable increased community use of places of worship in the UK, Isle of Man and Channel Islands. The National Churches Trust offers funding for projects that are in line with the aims of the Trust which are to: Help maintain the UK's heritage of church buildings and to enhance their ability to serve local communities. Promote the benefit to communities of church buildings and to inspire everyone to value and enjoy them. The Community Grants programme offers grants of between 5,000 and 25,000 towards the cost of capital works (additions and extensions) and the introduction of facilities, such as accessible toilets and catering facilities. Projects must have an estimated cost of at least 25,000 (including VAT and fees) and have already raised 50% of the total project cost. Applicants can also be considered for a National Churches Trust Micro-Grant in Partnership with the Cinnamon Network. These are additional 2,000 micro-grants available to successful applicants to set up a Cinnamon Network Recognised Project that meets the needs of local people. The micro-grants allow churches to set up new social action projects such as CAP Money Courses, Make Lunch and Parish Nursing. Successful churches will also be able to access the support and training provided by Cinnamon Network s regional Advisers and Trainers. Action Earth Grants For 2018 Volunteering Matters Action Earth empowers people in Scotland to take action and improve their local environment through volunteering. Any group of volunteers can apply for Volunteering Matters Action Earth grants of between 50-250 to run environmental activities in Scotland s green spaces. This could include creating or improving community gardens, wildflower meadows, ponds or woodlands. More here. Creative Scotland: Nurturing Talent - Time to Shine Fund Funding to support the artistic and creative ideas of young people aged 11 to 25. They want to award funding to young people that show ambition, enthusiasm or talent in their chosen art form and require some financial support to develop or promote this further. Funding may also be awarded to those who face significant barriers to access, such as rural isolation or additional support requirements. More here. Scottish Government Vote Centenary Small Grant Scheme Grants for local activities in Scotland which will celebrate and increase people s awareness of the women s suffrage movement. Maximum value: 5,000. The funding is for activities in Scotland that celebrate and commemorate the passing of the Representation of the People Act 1918 and to look forward to the future and how to best support women s political participation in Scotland.
