NEONATAL ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSING FORUM 2009 CALL FOR PARTICIPATION We invite every NICU, both in the U.S. and abroad, to represent their practice. The unique format of this program, coupled with outstanding faculty and state-of-the-science presentations, make this the premiere conference for APNs. Participants will: * Examine emerging neonatal therapies, controversies, and state-of-the-science research * Solve challenging clinical cases in interactive case-based learning sessions * Examine current trends impacting APN professional practice * Strategize with other APNs to promote excellence in APN practice and education CALL FOR CASE OF THE YEAR SUBMISSIONS Share your clinical expertise by submitting a challenging clinical case in abstract form. The case should highlight one or more of the following: * An unusual disease process or diagnostic challenge * An atypical presentation or outcome of a common disease * A transport challenge * A patient safety-related case Develop cogent case abstracts in a mystery format with supportive laboratory, diagnostic imaging, and pictures. The case selected for podium presentation will be presented in an interactive session designed to challenge the participants' diagnostic and critical thinking skills. The main conference fee is waived for one case presenter. Pre-conference fees, travel, and all other expenses remain the responsibility of the presenter. Cases not chosen for podium presentation will be evaluated for suitability for poster presentation. CALL FOR POSTER PRESENTATIONS Poster categories include: * Original Research (Designate as completed or work-in-progress) * Innovations in Practice or Education * Patient Safety, Quality Improvement or Benchmarking Initiatives Abstracts should be no longer than 500 words in 12 point font, with up to 2 additional bibliography pages. Original research should be presented in the form of a structured abstract (purpose, subjects, design, methods, results, limitations, and implications). Four abstracts will be selected for both podium and poster presentation on the basis of overall quality, originality and appropriateness to APNs. Podium presentations are 10 minutes with 3 minutes for questions. All presenters are responsible for registration fees, travel, and all other expenses. GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION Submissions must be congruent with conference objectives. A blinded, peer-reviewed selection process will be used. * Clearly identify the category of submission (Case of the Year, Original Research, Innovations or Patient Safety) * Limit abstracts to one page, not including bibliography * Electronic Abstract Guidelines for the Case of the Year, Posters & Presentations can be found online at www.dhmc.org/goto/apnforum2009 * Submissions that do not follow the guidelines will not be reviewed * DEADLINE: March 2, 2009 FOR INFORMATION: Lori A. EVENTS IN DC Check out local events and recommendations via the Omni Shoreham s website: www.omnihotels.com and click on the sidebar for The Local Scoop! Our Particpants Have Told Us... This conference is consistently talked about among NNPs as the best ARNP conference out there. I found that to be true on both coasts (I have lived in SC and WA as an NNP) and true as well for the time I attended myself. I definitely plan to attend this conference again and again. This conference was outstanding & far exceeded my expectations Have seen a wonderful evolution of quality of posters in large part due to quality of this conference Your group effort is exemplary - keep it up!
