The Grandery of Knights Templar Of Minnesota THE RALPH KIRK COMMANDERY OF THE YEAR AWARD INSTRUCTIONS AND INFORMATION Inside you will find a point schedule for this award. This is also a guide to help a Commander and his Commandery plan their year. Planning a year is not too difficult when using this program as a guide and with a bit of creativity added. Please meet with your dais officers prior to the start of a new Commander's year as it is always helpful to get further input. The term of the award runs from June 1st of one year to May 31st of the following year. This form must be Handed to, Mailed to, or E-mailed to the Grand Captain General by June 1st who will in turn, send a copy to the Grand Recorder. There will be an award given to a Commandery over 100 members and one to a Commandery under 100 members. The points awarded are for participation in many different fields of interest, from membership and public ceremonies to activities and leadership. Please observe your special observances (Easter, Christmas, and Ascension). These are an important part of a Commanderie's existence and are included in the points. THE RALPH KIRK COMMANDERY OF THE YEAR AWARD ACTIVITY AND REPORTS POINTS EARNED 1. STATED CONCLAVE OPENING: [ 600 Maximum Points ] Enter 25 points for each Conclave opened with a quoram. Enter 50 points for each opened in full form as described in the Tatics Manual. 2. OPEN & CLOSE EACH CONCLAVE WITH PRAYER: [ 300 Maximum Points ] Enter 25 points for each time your Commandery opens & closes a Conclave with a prayer with one being the Lords Prayer. 3. DRILL / SWORD MANUAL PRACTIC HELD: Enter 50 points for each time a drill or sword practice is held. Inspection Practice is included. [ 600 Maximum Points ] 4. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AT STATED COCLAVES: [ 900 Maximum Points ] Enter 75 points for each Stated Conclave, which contains a program or presentation regarding the history, meaning or other subject pertaining to Templary. 10 - minute minimum. Please list topics on a separate sheet. 5. OPEN INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS: [ 375 Maximum Points ] Enter 300 points for holding an Installation of Commandery Officers. Add 75 points for holding an Open Installation. 6. CODUCT AN EASTER OBSERVANCE: [ 200 Maximum Points ] Enter 200 points for Conducting an Easter Observance at your Commandery, either in a Stated Conclave or in a Public Ceremony. You may also earn these points if three or more members of your Commandery attend an other Commandery's Easter Observance. 7. CONDUCT A CHRISTMAS OBSERVANCE: [ 200 Maximum Points ] Enter 200 points for Conducting a Christmas Observance at your Commandery, either in a Stated Conclave or in a Public Ceremony. You may also earn these points if three or more members of your Commandery attend an other Commandery's Christmas Observance. 8. CONDUCT AN ASCENSION DAY OBSERVANCE: [ 200 Maximum Points ] Enter 200 points for Conducting an Ascension Day Observance at your Commandery, either in a Stated Conclave or in a Public Ceremony. You may also earn these points if three or more members of your Commandery attend an other Commandery's Ascension Day Observance. Page No. 1 Page One Points Total: 0

SUPPORT A KNIGHTS TEMPLAR PROGRAM: [300 Maximum Points ) Enter 300 points for supporting a Knights Templar Progam such as the Eye Foundation or the Holy Land Pligrimage Fund with a donation of at least $1.00 per member. 10. SPONSOR A MINISTER TO THE HOLY LAND: [ 600 Maximum Points ] Enter 600 points for your Commandery submitting a name and sponsoring a Minister to the Holy Land. 11. ORGANIZE A PRESENTATION BY A H. L. P. MINISTER: [ 300 Maximum Points] Enter 300 points for organizing a presentation from a MN Minister that was sent to the Holy Land sponsored by the Pilgrimage Fund and a Commandery. 12. ATTEND SERVICES AT A LOCAL CHURCH IN UNIFORM: [ 200 Maximum Points ] Enter 200 points for attending a Church Service in uniform with a minimum of three Sir Knights. NO SWORD! 13. KNIGHTS TEMPLAR FLAG PRSENTATION: [ No Limit On Points ] Enter 200 points for each instance your Commandery presents the U. S. Flag at a Masonic type Installation or other Masonic Public event. The presentation must be made by three Sir Knights or more in Uniform. Enter an extra 100 points for a public, non-masonic, Flag presentation. 14. VISIT A COMMANDERY: [ No Limit On Points ] Enter 150 points for each instance three or more Sir Knights, in uniform, from your Commandery visits another Commandery at their stated Conclave or Inspection. 15. PARTICIPATE IN A PARADE: [ No Limit On Points ] Enter 200 points for participating in a parade. At least three Sir Knights, in uniform, must participate. 16. MAKE A DONATION TO A LOCAL CAUSE: [ 300 Maximum Points ] Enter 300 points for organizing an activity to raise funds or help raise funds for a local cause like a food shelf, Salvation Army, Red Cross, Etc. 17. OFFICER ATTENDANCE AT GRAND CONCLAVE: [ 400 Maximum Points ] Enter 100 points for each Dais Officer, including the Recorder, who attends and is registered for the Grand Conclave. 18. ATTENDANCE BY SIR KNIGHTS AT GRAND CONCLAVE: [ No Limit On Points ] Enter 50 points for each Sir Knight, not on the Dais, attending the Grand Conclave and is registered. 19. ATTEND A GRAND COMMANDERY SPONSORED EVENT: [ No Limit On Points ] Enter 50 points for each Sir Knight attending a Grand Commandery Event. (Grand Conclave not Included) 20. SIR KNIGHT ON GRAND COMMANDERY COMMITTEE: [ 200 Maximum Points ] Enter 200 points if at least one Sir Knight from your Commandery is appointed to a Grand Commandery Committee. 21. GRAND COMMANDERY AWARDS AND HONORS: [ 300 Maximum Points ] Enter 300 points if a member of your Commandery receives an honor from the Grand Commandery. Includes: Gold Shield, Knight Templar Cross of Honor (KTCH), and Knight Commander of the Temple. 22. AWARD PRESENTATION FOR YEARS OF MEMBERSHIP: [ 300 Maximum Points ] Enter 300 points if reconition awards are presented for years of membership. This could be done with a Dinner, Public Ceremony, or in a Stated Conclave. 23. OFFICERS MEETINGS: [ 600 Maximum Points ] Enter 50 points for each Officer's "Planning Meeting" at a time other than a Stated Conclave. Use this Officers Meeting to plan your activities. A minimum of four Officers must be in attendance. 24. INCOMING COMMANDER'S ANNUAL PLAN: [ 300 Mazimum Points ] Enter 300 points if the incoming Commander presents his term plan and calendar to the Commandery prior to his term in office. 25. APPOINT A SIR KNIGHT TO CONDUCT INSPECTION AND SWORD MANUAL PRACTICES: [ 300 Maximum Points ] Enter 300 points if the Commander assigns a Sir Knight to take charge and guide the Commandery in the inspection and sword manual practices. 26. MOVEMENT OF OFFICERS IN STATIONS: [ 300 Maximum Points ] Enter 300 points if at least six Officers, from the previous term, move to a different position in the line. 27. CONTACT COMMITTEE ASSIGNED: [ 200 Maximum Points ] Enter 200 points if the Commander assigns a Sir Knight to be in charge of contacting and informing Sir Knights of upcoming events and meetings. This can be done by Phone or E-Mail. 28. STATED CONCLAVE STARTS ON TIME: [ 600 Maximum Points ] Enter 25 points each time your Commandery starts it's Stated Conclave on time according to your By-Laws. Double your points (50) if most Sir Knights are in full uniform. 29. ACTIVE COMMANDERY NEWSLETTER OR ARTICLE: [ 200 Maximum Points ] Enter 200 points if your Commandery puts out a Commandery newsletter or an article in your Lodges newsletter at least three times in a term to notify all it's members of the Commandery Events and Conclaves. 30. WEBSITE OR ONLINE COMMUNICATION: [ 200 Maximum Points ] Enter 200 points if your Commandery keeps an up to date Website, or a Web page of some kind, to inform members and others of any upcoming Commandery Events and Conclaves. This can also be used as a membership tool. 31. ANNUAL REPORT: [ 300 Maximum Points ] Enter 300 points if the Annual Report is complete and turned in on time by your Recorder. 32. CONFERRING ORDERS OF KNIGHTHOOD: [ 400 Maximum Points ] Enter 100 points each for Order of Red Cross & Order of Malta. Enter 200 points for the Order of the Temple 33. KNIGHTING NEW SIR KNIGHTS: [ No Limit on Points ] Enter 200 points for each new member Knighted into your Commandery. Knightings can be done at your Commandery or at another Commandery's Orders 34. ASSIST OTHER COMMANDERIES CONFERRING ORDERS: [ 200 Maximum Points ] Enter 200 points when three or more Sir Knights assist another Commandery in Conferring the Orders.
