NORTH CAROLINA STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION 2018 EXCELLENCE IN STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING AWARDS CALL FOR ENTRIES As the statewide professional organization for Structural Engineers since 2009, the Structural Engineers Association of North Carolina (SEA of NC) is pleased to announce the annual Call for Entries for our members to submit their projects for consideration in the 2018 Excellence in Structural Engineering Awards program. The intent of the SEA of NC s Excellence in Structural Engineering Awards program is to recognize SEA of NC members who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and excellence in structural engineering practice and project work. The awarded projects and their recipients serve as models of excellence in structural engineering representing North Carolina structural engineers. The SEA of NC 2018 Awards will be presented at an awards ceremony during the SEA of NC 2018 Annual Conference to be held in Raleigh on October 11, 2018. PURPOSE The purpose of the SEA of NC Excellence in Structural Engineering Awards program is to publicly acknowledge outstanding achievement in creative design, technical innovation, best practices and demonstrated contributions to the public and/or the profession. Additionally, it is the intent of the SEA of NC Awards program to educate the public as to the contributions of Structural Engineers to the built environment and public safety. OVERVIEW The enclosed packet of information contains SEA of NC 2018 Awards program judging criteria, award categories, rules for eligibility, entry instructions, forms and the deadline for submission. Entrants are eligible for awards in eight categories as listed below. The awards will be judged by a distinguished jury panel consisting of jurors from the field of structural engineering. The announcement of the SEA of NC Awards will be sent to all members and posted on our SEA of NC website. Winners may post announcements on social media and other websites and share with partners only if the SEA of NC logo is used. Architects listed will be notified of award recipients. The SEA of NC logo will be provided upon request to seaofnc@gmail.com. AWARD CATEGORIES Awards will be judged on the technical aspects of the project. An Award of Excellence and, up to two Awards of Merit, may be awarded in each award category. The jury may consider additional awards in each category for both small and large projects so that projects of all scales may be properly recognized for their excellence. The number of awards given will be a result of the judges scoring. Awards may or may not be given in each category listed below. Projects may be entered in ONE category only.
