University of Virginia Health System presents Therapeutic Apheresis Academy 2017 September 28-30, 2017 Key Bridge Marriott, Arlington VA Provided by the Office of Continuing Medical Education, University of Virginia School of Medicine The distinguished faculty is comprised of renowned experts selected to provide an interactive, multidisciplinary, and interprofessional educational program. COURSE OVERVIEW The Therapeutic Apheresis Academy is a multidisciplinary 2½ day course for physicians in nephrology, hematology, pathology/blood banking, and other allied health professionals with an interest in therapeutic apheresis. This conference will build upon previously established interprofessional learning using modern learning techniques. The interactive didactic sessions on Thursday and Friday will present an overview of current practice and information on building a new therapeutic apheresis service. The small group and fully interactive Saturday demonstration workshops will showcase clinical applications and provide an opportunity to glean practical tips from expert practitioners. ACCREDITATION AND DESIGNATION STATEMENT The University of Virginia School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The University of Virginia School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 13.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM for the didactic sessions and 3.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM for the lab workshop. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. The University of Virginia School of Medicine awards 13.75 hours of participation for the didactic sessions and 3.25 hours of participation for the lab workshop to each non-physician participant who successfully completes this educational activity. The University of Virginia School of Medicine maintains a record of participation for six (6) years. The University of Virginia School of Nursing Continuing Education is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. The University of Virginia SONCE awards 13.75 contact hours for the didactic sessions and 3.25 contact hours for the lab workshop for nurses who participate in this educational activity and complete the post activity evaluation. LOCATION This course will be held at the Key Bridge Marriott, 1401 Lee Hwy, Arlington, Virginia.. PARKING Conference parking is discounted to $10/day for hotel guests. Mention the discount to the Front Desk Staff at check-in to receive your discounted rate. For all others, conference parking is $25/day. ACCOMMODATIONS The Key Bridge Marriott provides beautiful views of and easy access to Washington, DC and is a quick walk across a pedestrian bridge to Georgetown.
