In April 2005 we also gained responsibility for managing the Mount Vernon cancer centre. At the East and North NHS Trust we are proud of the wide range of general and specialist services we provide to our patients. We have over 5,000 dedicated staff making sure our patients get the best care. We provide services to our local community of around 500,000 people, with the regional cancer centre supporting around 2 million people. We provide care to our community with an annual budget of around 350 million and more than 5,000 staff Our four hospitals are: Hertford County hospital, Hertford The Lister hospital, Stevenage Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, Northwood The New QEII hospital, Welwyn Garden City We provide a wide range of emergency and inpatient services at the Lister and QEII. Outpatient and diagnostic care is provided at Hertford County, the Lister and the QEII. With our maternity service at the Lister offers a midwife and consultant led unit. Lister Hospital is a 620-bed district general hospital in Stevenage. It offers general and specialist hospital services for people across much of and south Bedfordshire and provides a full range of medical and surgical specialties. Our specialist services at the Lister include: Cardiology Plastic surgery Renal Stroke Urology Mount Vernon We run Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, one of the country s top five cancer treatment centres, providing specialist radiotherapy services. Mount Vernon Cancer Centre is a well renowned, highly specialised cancer centre based in Northwood in Middlesex. 2 Nursing in East and North A&E and urgent care centre services We have a full emergency department at the Lister and an urgent care centre service at the New QEII. The difference is that the Lister A&E / Emergency department provides specialist support to those requiring emergency surgery, stroke, cardiac or neonatal care services that are not available at the New QEII. Taken together, however, they provide services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our emergency department and urgent care centre teams cover the whole of east and north, as well as south Bedfordshire a population of around 600,000 people. This means that: We see more than 135,000 patients a year. Around 25% of those who come into our A&E departments are children. About 21% of the patients we treat are admitted to hospital In December 2014, the fourth and final redevelopment phase of the 19 million investment to transform the emergency department at the Lister Hospital was completed. The department, which is now three times as big and much better laid, now has its own dedicated CT scanner. Staff and East and North We currently have around 5,000 people working for us across our four main hospitals, making us one of the largest employers in. Two of our hospitals, Lister and QEII, are in the process of significant changes, under the Our Changing Hospitals programme to consolidate acute inpatient services at the Lister site by 2014. There will be a New QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City, which is a project being led by the East and North Clinical Commissioning Group. We also have a major organisational development programme underway. The ARC programme aims to further engage staff to deliver enhanced patient care. ARC stands for Accelerate, Refocus and Consolidate. Accelerate quality, staff training and communication Refocus on patients, staff, values and partners Consolidate our services, patient pathways, our hospitals and our teams Our Award winning people Each year the Trust holds its Celebration of Excellence awards, marking the achievements and hard work of staff at the Lister, QEII and Hertford County hospitals, as well as the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre. - There are a range of categories for staff to nominate their colleagues but there is also a public nomination category. It s an ideal opportunity for patients and their families to show they care about hospital team who looked after them or their loved ones Long Serving Staff 2013 We celebrated the 45 members of staff who have been with us for more than 25 years and a very special group of 15 volunteers who have also been supporting us and our patients for over 20 years. 7 Testimonials From our Nurses in UK Trusts Finally have a read of what some of our past successful candidates currently working in the UK have to say about their experiences working in a UK Trust, settling into their new lives in England, and the recruitment process. Name: Chiara, Astarita Occupation: General Medical Nurse at a London NHS Hospital Even though I didn t even know of the existence of PCR till May, in a few weeks I m going to move to London to work as a nurse in a NHS hospital. During the first meeting in May the staff explained that the chance to work abroad is closer than it seems. The Open Day in June was for a first selection, as a basic knowledge of English is a good point to start. In the following weeks the English course gave me and my mates the possibility to really speak English. That was very useful and helped to gain selfconfidence. The staff members I met (Alessandra, Mirjana and Jennie) put us at ease and helped to prepare for the interview. They gave us material, suggested what position apply for (according to work and training background) and what to highlight, so that when the interview was over I felt it was easier than I expected. Name: Filippo Belmonte Occupation: General Medical Nurse at a London NHS Hospital Honestly, I was skeptical about the idea of being selected by an English hospital, starting with a basic language level, but thanks to PCR and Porta Futuro, I will work in future as a scrub nurse in London. For no costs, PCR provided teachers, nurses and all their staff to prepare us to overcome the interview. PCR organized a 6 weeks free English course and continuous Skype sessions until the date of the interview. After the interviews, they supported us, giving us all the information needed. I feel lucky for choosing PCR, because without their help, I do not know if I would have been able to overcome all the difficulties How to Apply If you re interested in being interviewed for East and North NHS Trust, Primary Care Recruitment will be hosting live interviews in October and November 2015. We will be interviewing on behalf of East and North NHS Trust for Nurses in the following specialties.
