This conference provides a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness, show support, share information and educate each other on the activities in our communities across the nation. I encourage each of you to take advantage of this occasion to engage, learn, share, build connections and collaborate on different initiatives and ideas. Taking the Reins We re so pleased to be in the west in the beautiful province of Alberta and the vibrant city of Calgary, to join food bank organizations from across our nation. This year s conference has a powerful theme: Taking the Reins. Nobody understands this concept better than food bankers. It takes a steady hand to carefully guide our organizations in a masterful way. It takes skill and patience but most of all it takes clear direction. We as a network are all working together in the same direction and to further our goals as we help each other on our travels. We can share resources and knowledge and experience. And most importantly we can lend support to each other when at a time of great need. Our hope is that this conference will allow us to rally together against hunger. During your time in Alberta we hope you have an opportunity re-energize and refocus with exciting and innovative sessions, events and information sharing.
