FROM THE TOP 513th Air Control Group 4 October 2015 Rabbit Tales 5 November s Capstone Event By Col. David Super Dave Robertson Team, As you should know by now, the November UTA has been moved to 14-15 November to accommodate the AFRC IG team as they conduct a Capstone inspection of the 513 ACG. The inspectors will actually be here before the UTA and will remain at our unit until approximately 17 November. This will be a different type of inspection than ones in the past with a heavy emphasis on MICT and the overall CCIP (Commander s Inspection Program). Many of you will be asked to give interviews with the inspectors...indeed we believe they are targeting at least 125 of you to give interviews on the status of our unit. If you re asked to speak with the inspectors, take the opportunity to respectfully express both positive things about the unit as well as some of the challenges we face as Reservists. Take this opportunity to brag on your unit, your shop and any programs you may manage. The 513 has a history of excellence and this is the time to show off this excellence to the AFRC IG team. As we go through this inspection it s important to note our new 513 ACG Mission Statement - Provide combat-ready AWACS airmen to fly, fight and win, and our new 513 ACG Vision Statement - Experience, expertise, teamwork: The 1st choice in AWACS. It s also important to remember our three strategic focal areas that were developed at our strategic planning conference this past spring: 1) Marketing our capabilities, 2) Maintaining and enhancing our Reserve culture, and 3) Actively identifying and engaging in new mission opportunities as a direct force provider to COCOMs. I m proud of the way the 513 ACG has rebounded after a difficult 2014 and potential shutdown. Your ability to recover as a team, deploy to the AOR and maintain the standard 513 ACG excellence is simply incredible. I ask you to dig deep during our AFRC IG Capstone event, work hard, show off our capabilities and demonstrate what makes the 513th the absolute best AWACS unit in the Air Force. Thank you ahead of time for your hard work and dedication. Words of wisdom from the IG office By Maj. Greg Hutto As we close in on our 1st ever UEI Capstone event, it is a good time to reflect on all the hard work we ve gone through to get ready for this big event. In the last two years, the 513th has fully integrated MICT into everyday life, created its own IG Inspections program, conducted 18 CCIP inspections made up of 40 separate unit-level evaluations, and embraced an entirely new culture of Marketing the 513th. Not only have we survived, we have excelled! We quite literally have made a name for ourselves. As November draws near and this AFRC Inspection approaches, I d ask you to Keep it Simple. First, do what you ve been trained to do to the best of your ability. Second, Market the 513th!! Let the inspectors know about the challenges and obstacles we face each day and also how we consistently overcome them. Lastly, this may be a much friendlier inspection, but it is most definitely still an inspection. Expect to be interviewed. Treat this inspection like a job interview and prepare your statements in advance. With the sheer number of interviews and/or auditions required, you may only get fifteen minutes to talk or perform a task. Make It Count! 513TH AIR CON TROL GROU P 513TH AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE SQ Our Mission To provide combat-ready AWACS Citizen Airmen to Fly, Fight & Win Our Vision 513TH MAINTENANCE SQ PROFESSIONAL AND PROUD Experience, Expertise, Teamwork: The 1st Choice in AWACS
