Dorothy Lane Fullerton, CA 92831 (714) 626-4554 DETAILS FOR FIELD TRIP TO HAWAII SUMMARY: - We are taking as many as 38 cadets to Hawaii to visit Pearl Harbor, USS ARIZONA, USS MISSOURI, and other locations on Oahu. - We will select cadets randomly based on cadets returning a permission slip and passing grade checks next Monday, March 3. - Anticipated flight schedules: depart on Saturday, March 22 and return Monday, March 24. CADET SELECTION: - Cadets who went to Hawaii in 2011 are NOT eligible to attend this year s trip. - Cadets who have 1 or more Fs or a semester GPA below 2.0 are NOT eligible to attend. - All other cadets who turn in permission slips by March 3 will be entered through a drawing process: o 4 th year cadets will have 4 chances, 3 rd year 3 chances, 2 nd year 2 chances, 1 st year 1 chance. o Names will be drawn on Monday, March 3 at 1515. FINANCES: - Trip fees of $250 may be made in cash or check payable to Troy NJROTC Booster Club to cover transportation, lodging and Sunday dinner. Payments are due by March 14. - We strongly recommend cadets bring $50 cash for meals and other out of pocket expenses during the trip: o Cadets must pay cash for Saturday lunch and dinner, Saturday breakfast and lunch, Monday breakfast and lunch. o Cadets must pay cash for any souvenirs they buy during the trip. - The trip may be cancelled one week prior if the Navy can not provide an airplane to and from Hawaii. Full $250 refunds will be made if the trip is cancelled. REFUNDS: Refunds for cadets who need to cancel their participation in the trip will ONLY be made if a standby is able to fill the vacated position. MISSED SCHOOL: NONE LODGING: Best Western Plaza Hotel near Honolulu International. Cadets will be four to a room based on gender. Our cadets are very well behaved, but we do have a few rules: - If both genders are present, the door has to be fully open and at least 3 cadets in the room. - The room will be cleaned by the cadets at the end of the stay. Drawers will be used to store clothes, keeping rooms neat. - Cadets must have at least one adult with them wherever we go and they must use the buddy system. A cadet never travels alone.
STANDBY LIST: A standby list will be maintained by CDR Stubblefield once our trip limit is met. Standbys will not have to pay the $250 unless they are moved to the trip list. MEDICATIONS: Cadets who bring medication must inform Chief King of their medications and the schedule for taking these medications. Cadets will be responsible for storing and taking their medications and should carry medications with their carry-on luggage. ITINERARY: See attached. Bring a small towel for beach use and small container of soap/shampoo for clean-up before Luau. May want to bring goggles or mask for snorkeling, too. Cadets are required to wear Troy NJROTC black t-shirt, jeans/khakis and tennis shoes on airlifts, all other wear can be beach or Aloha wear. BRING SUNSCREEN!!
