Message from the Chairman "Chairman s Corner" The 2010-2011 season is quickly coming to an end. Over the next couple months we have some very exciting events. Green is the big thing now-a-days, everyone is sensitive to being more environmentally friendly, and with the price of oil skyrocketing, there s even more interest in Renewable Energy. On March 10, we have the opportunity to have Mr. Paul Dickson, from Dominion Power, speak to us about their efforts to tap into renewable energy sources. Also on March 24, we have been invited to attend a SNAME presentation on a portable means of validating weld chemistry. This event is being held at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding s VASCIC facility, so security passes will be needed. If you are a non- Northrop Grumman Employee and wish to attend, there is contact information on the last page of this bulletin. Finally, I would like to put a plug in for our tour of the battleship Wisconsin. We are going to have the opportunity to go below deck on this historic warship. There is limited space available, so you need to sign up soon and pay your money no later than April 7. The details of this tour and who to pay can be found elsewhere in this bulletin. So as you can see, our calendar is full with some great events. I hope you take advantage of these opportunities and participate. Sincerely yours, Paul Hebert MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE FROM ANY SECTION MEMBER 3

BATTLESHIP WISCONSIN TOUR April 14, 2011 FAQ for Top Side Tours - Groups Where does your tour begin? You will meet your tour guides on board the Wisconsin in the Ward Room. Please give yourself enough time to check-in and make your way to the Ward Room for your tour. Use the restroom before going on board as there are no working bathrooms on the Wisconsin. Participants must be ten years old and above. The physical nature of the tour prohibits young children from participating. How long is the tour? These tours last approximately 60-90 minutes. What will we see on the tour? You will be visiting the front of the superstructure: Wardroom and Officer Berthing, Combat Engagement Center, Flag Bridge and the Navigation Bridge. A few things you need to know.. You will be going up and down four deck s worth of ladders from the main deck to the 04 level or four decks above the main deck. These areas are considered construction zones. For your safety you will be required to wear a hard hat. No strollers or carried children are permitted. Children under the age of 10 are not permitted. You will want to have full use of your hands and arms for climbing stairs and ladders. If possible, please store back packs, purses and others items in the lockers on the first floor. Please check your shoes for climbing and ladder compatibility. High heels, flats, any heel really, and flip flops are not recommended for this tour. You will be on your feet for the entire tour. This tour goes through some tight spaces and we will be in close quarters throughout the experience. When will more interior spaces be open? It will be at least six months before additional spaces are open for tours. We re hoping that the engineering spaces will be open for tours by next summer. 5
