MARIAN UNIVERSITY Indianapolis College of Graduate and Online Programs EDUCATING A NEW GENERATION OF HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS

Choose a university where you can expand your mind and your heart. As the only Catholic university in Indianapolis, we practice values that students interested in the health professions can appreciate. Values like ensuring children and adults of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds have access to high-quality healthcare. Values like treating the causes of illness, not just the symptoms. And values like advancing human health and well-being with the latest treatments, technologies, and research. When you think about getting the knowledge, skills, and experience you need to make your dream job a reality, think about what you value. What type of degree is the right fit for you to advance your career goals? Will you be a full-time student? Or will you work while taking classes on a part-time basis? Can you be on campus for all of your classes or do you want to earn your degree online? Maybe you re looking for a university recognized for excellence in teaching and learning with state-of-the-art classrooms and science labs and faculty mentors who will educate, guide, and challenge you every step of the way. Or you might be looking to advance your career by earning your degree online or through a hybrid of classroom and online teaching. Or perhaps you appreciate a university that has strategic partnerships with top hospitals and healthcare facilities across Indiana. Whatever your educational and career values, we re committed to delivering graduate and online health degree programs that will expand your mind and your heart. With Franciscan values that emphasize being of service to others, Marian University will prepare you for leadership roles that make the world a better place. Creating learning experiences for students through interdisciplinary, interprofessional instruction. The College of Graduate and Online Programs provides rich academic, clinical, and research experiences for students. When you graduate from one of our programs, you ll be career-ready for meaningful roles in today s ever-evolving healthcare environment. Our College of Osteopathic Medicine, which opened in 2013, was the first new medical school in the state of Indiana in 110 years. Graduating in 2017, our first class of 131 new doctors of osteopathic medicine are completing residencies in hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout Indiana and across the country. Launched in 2016, our Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences program enables students to choose from medical/professional school or research tracks. Our first Doctor of Nursing Practice students began classes in 2017, choosing from family nurse practitioner or nurse anesthetist tracks. We created a Master of Science in Nursing program with a focus on nursing education in 2016. In 2017, we made the coursework for our popular RN to BSN degree program available in a fully online format that is ideal for working nurses who want career advancement opportunities. marian.edu 1

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) If you are a BSN-prepared registered nurse (RN) who aspires to practice at an advanced level or who wants to work as a nursing executive, earning a DNP degree can help you reach your career goals. Marian University s DNP program includes two tracks, both of which lead to employment in fields where graduates are in demand, entail a high level of responsibility and earn high salaries. NURSE PRACTITIONERS ARE THE #2 PROFESSION ON U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT S LIST OF THE TOP 100 JOBS FOR 2017. Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Track As a student who completes our FNP program, you ll be prepared to provide hands-on, culturally competent advanced practice care for children and adults. If you plan to take classes as a full-time student, you will complete the program in seven semesters (shown here). Part-time students can complete the program in about 10 semesters. As an FNP, you will be prepared to work as an independent healthcare practitioner or a member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team in a range of settings from hospitals and clinics to rehabilitation centers and private practices. You ll complete advanced nursing coursework related to pathophysiology, health assessment, pharmacology, differential judgment, diagnostic testing and interpretation, and primary care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, women, and geriatric patients. Courses are delivered face-to-face, online, and in hybrid format. In addition to completing required coursework, you ll complete 1,000 hours of supervised clinical practice, including at least 500 practicum hours of populationfocused care. We secure clinical sites and preceptors to ensure you have high-quality, meaningful experiential opportunities. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the average national salary for FNPs in 2016 was nearly $105,000.
