QUALIFIED AEROSPACE INSTRUCTORS COURSE (QAIC) QAIC No. 8 SEP 2015 TO APR 2016 AT RAF LINTON ON OUSE AND MOD BOSCOMBE DOWN 1. ATC Sqn and CCF Section Cdrs are invited to nominate suitable cadets for the Qualified Aerospace Instructors Course No 8, which commences 04 Sep 15. 2. The course will be operated from two separate centres; RAF Linton on Ouse and MOD Boscombe Down. Candidates will be allocated to either Linton or Boscombe Down according to the shortest travelling time. Both centres operate to the same training materials and deliver the same learning outcomes. 3. Candidates should give due consideration to their ability to travel by train on Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon during course weekend dates before submitting an application. 4. Candidates must meet the following criteria: a. At least 16 years of age on 04 Sep 15 b. Under 19 years of age on the 01 Oct 15 c. Master Cadet or CCF Advanced at receipt of application d. Grade C GCSE (actual or predicted) in Maths and English e. Able to access an internet connection and have an email address f. Have a keen interest in aerospace subjects g. Be willing to use the QAI qualification to instruct at squadron, wing and regional activities h. Be able to meet the 190 cost of the course from personal or squadron funds 5. Selection Suitable applicants will be invited to attend a selection weekend at either RAF Linton on Ouse or MOD Boscombe Down during the weekend 04 06 Sep 15 (cost 10). The selection weekend will comprise: a. 5 minute presentation using PowerPoint (applicants should prepare a presentation on a subject of their choice)
b. Interview c. RAF and CCF/ATC knowledge quiz (applicants should have a general knowledge of the structure and of the CCF/ATC and the aircraft, locations and operations of the RAF) d. Command tasks e. Flight Simulator test (no previous knowledge required) f. Air Traffic Simulator test (no previous knowledge required) 6. Course Content. The course is designed to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to be able to instruct staff and cadets in the Regional Activity Centres and to provide them with a broader range of knowledge of aerospace subjects. The course will comprise the following modules: a. Presentation Skills and Instructional Technique b. Air Traffic Control c. Air Power d. Aerodynamics e. Flight Simulation f. Pilot Studies g. Radio Communications h. Leadership and Personal Development HOW TO APPLY 7. The attached Application Form is to be completed and emailed to qaic@aircadets.org arriving no later than 03 Aug 15 1800 BST. IN ADDITION, ALL APPLICANTS MUST APPLY VIA www.qaic.org (INCLUDING ALL WHO HAVE PREVIOUSLY APPLIED). 8. The Cadet Consent form is to be completed by the candidate and parent/guardian, as required, and verified by OC Sqn. Application forms will only be accepted from an OC Sqn / Section Bader account or a Wing HQ email account. All applicants will be contacted by email during August and those invited for selection will receive Joining Instructions by 17 Aug 15.
9. Cadets are not permitted to drive to the Selection Weekend, or subsequent weekends. Transport will be by rail (warrants to be requested by cadets from their Wing HQ) and cadets will be met at the appropriate railhead.
