Background CORE Group Polio Project The CORE Group Polio Eradication Initiative began in 1999 Multi-country and multipartners funded by: USAID & BMGF Currently working in 6 countries: Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Nigeria, Somalia and South Sudan Working with 9 ingosand > 30 local NGOs in target countries

The Secretariat Model as a Platform PVO/NGO coalition to expand scope and reach Coordination, technical backstopping and quality assurance of the In-country activities, technical advice at field site level Representation Neutral from any at national single partner & international form, Information sharing, Integration of Documentation of PVOs/NGOs outcomes/impact; among CSO and Jointly appraises projects, other national and Transparent global decision stakeholders making among all partners Neutral from any single partner

Projected population (census 2007): 94 million (2 nd populous country in Africa ) Growth Rate:2.6% Under-1: 2.82% Under-5: 14.6% Under-15: 44.98% Under 5 Child Mortality Rate: 67/1000live-births (MDG4 achieved) Administrative: 9 Regions, 2 City Administrations Rural: 83%with infrastructure challenges Bordering with S/Sudan, Sudan, Kenya, Eritrea, Somalia & Djibouti Ethiopia Background Population Density

CGPP Ethiopia Secretariat Established in November 2001 The secretariat and its office is housed in CCRDA, Project implementing in 85 woredas (districts) of 5 regions by 13 partners (6 ingos and 7 Local PNGOs) Key partners (FMoH, WHO, UNICEF, CCRDA & Rotary Intl)
