Bastian, CPRP Leisure Services Acting Director September 3, 2008 Contact: Margaret Kurtz FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE City of Las Vegas Halloween & Harvest Happenings 2008 It s time to plan October Halloween and harvest fun, and the City of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services offers many special events and activities for children and adults. These activities are just a sampling of the many programs available throughout the year. For a full list of classes and activities available, call any of the facilities below or our main office at (702) 229-6297. (All activities are subject to change. Please call to confirm before attending. Most centers are closed Oct. 31. Call centers near you for complete list of classes and activities. Most activities require advance registration. Senior activities require $2 annual membership to City of Las Vegas Senior Citizen Programs.) Lunch with Witch Wanda (ages 3-8) Saturday, October 11, 1 to 3 p.m. Registration closes October 4. Fee: $12 Enjoy Halloween-shaped sandwiches and witches brew, play games, paint a pumpkin and have your photo taken with Witch Wanda. Only parent and paid child may attend. B-O-O Bag Workshop (ages 4-10) Wednesday, October 15, 4 to 5 p.m. Advance registration required. Bring a solid color pillowcase to make a Halloween bag. Enjoy goodies, too. Free Family Movie in the Park (all ages) Thursday, October 16, 6:30 p.m. pre-movie activities; 7 p.m. Monster House movie. Bring a picnic, blanket or lawn chairs to watch a movie under the stars. Refreshments for sale. Spooky Cookie Fun Workshop (ages 3-5) Friday, October 17, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Advance registration required. Dress for a costume contest and join the annual pumpkin-carving party. Haunted Bone Yard Tour (ages 50+) Tuesday, October 21, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Advance registration required. transportation fee, $3 entrance fee, plus lunch cost. We ll search the valley for all the haunted spots, then conclude the spooky adventure by walking through the Neon Museum s historic marquee signs. Hoedown & Luncheon (ages 50+) Wednesday, October 22, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Advance registration required. Fee: $4, includes lunch of BBQ pork sandwiches, baked beans, coleslaw and cobbler.
