Mission Statement: 1

As a unified council, serve the Greater Cleveland area in community efforts, scholarship and service. Collaboration: Guest Speakers Cosandra Wheeler, Group Sales Associate and Terrence Spivey, Artist Director www.karamuhouse.org Karamu House is located in the Fairfax neighborhood on the east side of Cleveland, Ohio. It is the oldest African-American theater in the United States. Many of Langston Hughes's plays were developed and premiered at the theater. In 2015 the institution will be celebrating its 100 th year of service to the community. Karamu offers art experiences for people of all ages through a variety of programs. The three primary program areas are the Early Childhood Development Center, the Center of Arts and Education, and the Karamu Performing Arts Theatre. It was suggested that that council consider a theatre night during the run of The Wiz which is scheduled for Friday, May 29 to Sunday, June 21. The Council agreed to develop a committee to research and develop this idea as potential fundraiser. Sorors DeAna Morgan and Joyce Thornton and Frater Anthony Brown agreed to serve on this committee.
