National Pan-Hellenic Council of Greater Cleveland General Body Minutes September 22, 2014 6:30pm As of 10/28/2014 12:33 PM Call to Order: Meeting was called to Order by Soror Michelle Kenney, President at 6:38pm (Verizon Wireless time). Meditation: Soror Vicki Pruitte-Sorrells presented the meditation and prayer for the evening. Roll Call: The roll of affiliate organizations was called. o Prefect attendance by affiliate representation. A quorum has been was established. Adoption of Agenda: Adopted by consensus Minutes: Frater Anthony Brown presented the minutes from the June 23, 2014. o Correction Soror Joyce Thornton added to the attendance list o Minutes were adopted by consensus Correspondence: None Treasurer: Soror Marlene Robinson-Statler presented the balance to date - $2,436.93. Total receipts from the Greek Weekend have not been cleared. A complete report will be made available at the next meeting. Soror Robinson-Statler and Soror Chamomile Ware will be presenting revised processes in the accountability and reporting in the coming months. Welcome: Soror Kenney gave the welcome and opening remarks for the evening. o Welcome to the fall meeting. o Introduction of all members for the benefit of new faces. o There are greater and new things for this year. Mission Statement: As a unified council, serve the Greater Cleveland area in community efforts, scholarship and service. Collaboration: Guest Speaker Jack Schron, President and CEO of Jergens, Inc. www.jergeninc.com Committee Reports: 1. Greek Weekend Frater Clyde Christian, III a. Thank you all that participated. Special acknowledgement to Shelley and Mark for their assistance. b. Successful event overall. c. Friday Fish Fry started off rocky. d. Saturday picnic was challenging, but a good time was had by all. e. Sunday church service was really good. The pastor was enthused by the various organizations attending the service. f. Strongly suggest that the person who takes on the lead next year, to start early. g. The executive board is open to some new ideas. h. Recommendations for 2015 i. Starting early is the key to success ii. Soror Kelly Glenn, an employee of the City of Cleveland has been contacted to assist with securing a venue for the cookout iii. Create an online survey to all representatives to share with their affiliates iv. Any Greek member of any affiliate can serve on any committee v. 2. Silver & Gold Celebration Soror Michelle Kenney a. Unfortunately, we will have to reschedule this date. b. The library reservation will need to be cancelled. 3. Adopt-a-Highway Soror Michelle Kenney a. We must honor our commitment to this project. b. A minimum of 3 people to receive credit for the day. c. Email reminders will be sent for the remaining clean-up days d. Frater Robertson has asked individuals to contact him by phone or email if training is needed. e. Frater Orlando Grant volunteered 5 Iota brothers will assist on October 12 th. 4. Youth Event Chair, TBA a. Saturday, February 28, 2015 b. Looking for a chair and co-chair to lead the charge. c. Some type of Black History to feature our youth programs. d. There are some thoughts of connecting with CMSD Academic Superintendent Donald Jolly (Omega) or Executive Director Denine Goolsby (SGRho) e. Please share with your organizations and offer recommendations to Fraters Brown and Christian f. Volunteers to serve on this committee: i. Aria Reynolds ii. Monica Bourn iii. Mark Sorrells iv. Joyce Thornton v. Michelle Kenney Unfinished Business: 1. Scholarship Deadline September 30, 2014 a. All necessary items related to the scholarship application must be received or postmarked by the deadline. 2. Christmas Celebration December 15, 2014 a. Every affiliate is requested to bring (4) $10 gift cards to the November meeting. New Business: 1. 12 th Annual HBCU College Fair Frater Lester Holmes 2

Announcements: a. Realizing that 6 out of the 9 organizations that comprise the National Pan-Hellenic Council were founded on a HBCU campus and that many influential chapters and members of our respective organizations call HBCU's home, we cannot have a successful college fair without your presence and input. b. Register your youth and advisors to participate c. Become a vendor Greek Row, featuring all of the Greek organizations to promote your scholarship programs, youth program recruitment, and educational/community outreach activities. d. Become a Program Partner e. Volunteer for the day and/or participate in the "Pack Party" f. More information will be sent via email about these opportunities.
