T H E AMWA Y GRAND HOTEL A FO U R STAR HOTEL WITH TWO- S T A R PRICES! The Amway Grand is in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids, and has been making history since the original hotel The Pantlind opened in 1913. Fashioned after English Adams architecture by designers Warren & Wetmore, the hotel s special details included one of the world s largest gold-leaf ceilings in the Pantlind lobby. By 1925, The Pantlind was rightfully ranked One of the Ten Finest Hotels in America. That distinguished history paved the way for the new Amway Grand Plaza Hotel. Conference attendees can stay in the luxurious rooms for $134 per night. The hotel has 682 exceptionally well-appointed rooms, and 9 restaurants and lounges, as well as 24-hour room service, high speed internet in all rooms, full fitness center with indoor pool, and numerous shops. The hotel is connected by skywalk to Van Andel Arena home of the Grand Rapids Griffins hockey team, DeVos Convention Center, and DeVos Performance Hall, where Broadway Grand Rapids, the Grand Rapids Ballet Company, Grand Rapids Symphony, and Opera Grand Rapids perform. T H E CITY OF GRAND RAPIDS Grand Rapids, part of Michigan s West Coast, is the county seat and offers all the big-city excitement you expect from a million-resident metropolis like a bustling downtown featuring more than 60 restaurants, nightclubs, theatres, museums and sports venues within a five-minute walk from the Amway Grand Hotel. Yet for all its sophistication, the city prides itself on such small-town virtues as friendly people, safe streets, minimal traffic, and good old-fashioned Midwest value. Grand Rapids takes pride in five outstanding museums including the Grand Rapids Art Museum (GRAM), the world s first newly built LEED-Certified Art Museum; Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum where the 38 th President and former First Lady are interred; the Grand Rapids Public Museum; and the Grand Rapids Children s Museum. Other premier attractions include: the Grand Rapids Ballet Company (the only professional ballet company in Michigan), Opera Grand Rapids (Michigan s longest running professional opera company), Grand Rapids Symphony, Broadway Grand Rapids, and The John Ball Park Zoo. All are short walk from the conference hotel.

In addition, conference goers will be able to view and participate in ArtPrize! ArtPrize debuted in 2009 and is a radically open art competition which has no formal jury, curator, or judge. Winners are decided by public vote using mobile devices and social media. During its inaugural year, more than 334,000 votes were cast during the 16-day event. ArtPrize 2014 will feature more than 1500 entries from artists all over the world. To date this event has awarded over $1.4 million in prize monies and attracted over one million visitors to our city of 200,000. Two entries shown to the right; Nessie on the Grand is an 18-foot high, 100-foot long creature with sparkling LED eyes that lived in the iconic Grand River and the other, Helping mom one penny at a time is a giant-sized penny made of actual pennies. If you d rather site-see, you can amble through the aweinspiring Historic Heritage Hills district. Heritage Hill is the City s first its first residential neighborhood and its first historic district. Two of the many attractions include The Meyer May and Voigt houses. The Meyer May house opened in 1908 and is Frank Lloyd Wright s first commission in Michigan. The Voigt House is an 1895 French Chateau that provides visitors a rare time capsule showcasing the life of a prominent local family over a hundred years ago. The three-story brick mansion was occupied by members of the Voigt family for nearly 76 years.
