Once at the St. Louis County Police Department s range and once at the Webster Groves Police Department s range with Shrewsbury Police Department Instructors. The firearms training included duty weapons, off duty weapons and department shotguns. All officers received the following in-service roll call training refreshers: pepper mace, use of force, department authorized weapons, standards of conduct, harassment in the work place, pursuit review, prisoner searches, CPR and REJIS recertification. All officers also received training with MetroLink on security/safety and with Laclede Gas on natural gas emergencies. Shrewsbury Police 26 Annual Report Crisis Intervention Team The Shrewsbury Police Department currently has nine police officers trained and certified as Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) members. Seven police officers attended the 4 hour training course at the St. Louis County & Municipal Police Academy in the year of 26. The Crisis Intervention Team members receive in depth training on how to recognize and deal with those suffering from mental illness. The goal of the Crisis Intervention Team is to properly deal with and assist those who are mentally ill. The program is administered by the St. Louis County Police Department and the St. Louis County Circuit Courts has organized a mental health division as a jail diversion program. The mental health court was designed to assist offenders who have been officially diagnosed with a mental illness and have been charged with a crime as a result of their condition. The goal of the St. Louis County Mental Health Court is to provide offenders with resources to assist them effectively deal with their mental illness so they can live productive lives. The Shrewsbury Police Department joined the Crisis Intervention Team in 25 and joined the St. Louis County Mental Health Court in 26. The goal of the Shrewsbury Police Department is to get 1% of the patrol officers trained as CIT members and remain dedicated to the Crisis Intervention Team s efforts. 26 CIT Calls No. of Calls Arrested Transported to Hospital Referred to St. Louis Co.
