3 rd Annual East Tennessee Veterans Business Conference Featured Speakers Ms. Janis E. Kaiser, Deputy for Small Business, Naval Facilities Engineering Command Midwest (NAVFAC Midwest) of Great Lakes, Illinois. NAVFAC contracts with small businesses in the area of engineering, construction, and environmental services through the following business lines: Capital Improvements and Military Construction Projects, Public Works, Environmental, Base Development, Real Estate, and Contingency Engineering. During FY 08, NAVFAC, Midwest spent $8.68 Billion purchasing dollars with 35% going to small businesses and 2.16% of all purchases going to Service Disabled Veteran Small Businesses. Mr. Kevin Boshears, Director, Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, Homeland Security, Washington, D.C. Homeland Security budget is set for over 55 Billion Dollars for FY 2010 which is distributed among, Department of Homeland Security Headquarters, FEMA, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Transportation Security Administration, US Coast Guard, and the Secret Service. Mr. David E. Brock, Center Small Business Specialist, NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville, Alabama. Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) serves as a systems developer and integrator for exploration and science missions. It advances Agency priorities with its full life-cycle engineering capabilities, developing and integrating human and scientific space flight systems from concept to development to operation. The Center s work in advanced materials and manufacturing processes and scientific research in specialized areas rounds out its portfolio. MDA provides the people, training, tools, and oversight to ensure that the ballistic missile defense system (BMDS) and ancillary support is contractually executed in a prudent and timely manner.
